Am wrong to be disappointed in some Chinese?

China

I am supposed to love my counrymen. Thus it is weird to say this since I am Chinese. I used to be a volunteer taking good care of the patients in isolation wards druing the SARS epidemic period; I used to be a young student crazy quarrealing with everyone who discriminated Chinese; I used to try my best to persuade all foreigners that I know to like Chinese; I used to be very sad to see some negative comments in foreign forums and would empoly every means to change their minds or prejudices... Someday, I lost my faith. I am losing my faith. It was but last month a woman jumped into the river to commit sucide in town. At the same time, she dropped all her money into the river. Subsequently, it was said that lots of people jumped into the river for the money. On the other hand, no one payed attention to the woman. As a result, she died. I didn't really wanna judge it though I was shocked. Maybe they did that for a reason. It is very common to hear that, isn't it? Will it happen in South korea, Singapore or the United Kingdom...? Ok, if it is not my business, I have no right to say anything... I went to a very "famous" taining center to learn a foreign language every sunday. To my disappointment, my teacher skiped three classes, for each of which we payed about $50. I was so angry that I wanted the money back. But they left me alone and told me that I was the only one who was whining. They were selling their lessons like products. I was the one who would buy the products. U know what? I didn't even see the products, not mention to buy them. Why did I have to pay the classes that the teacher skipped? They were being so unreasonable. However, people here kind of get used to it. Then u will know why they have the audacity to stand there and leave my complaints alone. Screw it! I was the only one holy terror. If they think so... Will it happen in the United states or Japan or somewhere else? I don't really care the money so much. There is something that hurts more. My town was loaded with very selfish people. They almost never think about others but their damn selves. Am I overstated? Oh, come on! I know what I am talking about. Why do they spit everywhere so confidently? Why do they drive so crazily without thinking there would be accidents? Why do they end in a punch-up so easily for trivial things as if they are superheros or something? Sure, there are lots of kind of people here too. I get mean when I feel tired of something! It is just what meant to be! It is all my fault!

Nationalism is not that you agree to everything the goverment does, nor appreciating everything and everyone you found in the country. Say whatever you say and do whatever you want. Disappointment and Argument does not disqualify you from your citizenship. Whenever you hold your passport, you are Chinese Nationals. (Ethnicity is another matter, i believe)

Don't be so disappointed or of overcare because it will do great harm to your health. You'd better migrate abroad such as USA, Singapore, South Korea etc. or somewhere you are yearning. Beauty or scandal exists everywhere, but I love my country including her shortcomings though sth also let me angry.

So, u think it is ugly, huh? Well, I am joking. I admire your patriotism and believe that u will try your best to take good care of your mother. Loving mother is what it is, isn't it? Something is supposed to be beautiful. If people appreciate it more, if someone reflects upon its mistakes, if they ever try... The Yangtse river is too spectacular for words; Huanghe building has a long historical standing though hard to learn; wuchang fish is so delicious that it is simply out of the world. Anyway, the great city deserves better! What if some other sons or daughters let it down... If the thief just work kind of harder for other business... If some people don't always be in a hurry... If some agencies don't take the money, which is not supposed to be theirs, so secriously... If some people don't throw litter about like that... I love my country. This is the reason that why I feel worse when some people cause her illness. Drawing the strong points of others to offset one's own weakness is so easy anyway. If they are willing to take the chances... The day before yesterday, I lost my faith. Today, I will do something that helps I pray and believe tomorrow will be better...

The negative aspects of human nature and behaviour know no race hiddenwing. It is an unfortunate reality in all parts of the world that there will always be self-serving people that will completely disregard others. The key I guess is to not associate with such people wherever possible and for us as individuals to do all we can to ensure that we never become one of them ourselves. To ponder the actions of others that are ultimately beyond our control and to try and quantify their actions is pointless really. They are what they are, so we shall be the best we can be as a sign of defiance! The collective good in people and the world will hopefully reign supreme.

Hi there. You know what? I am feeling the same as you. What I can't bear is that why the drivers just press their loudspeaker so arbitrarily? And in such a high decibel that can kill our ears and put all us into deaf. It really drives me nuts. We have already have enough noise pollution and why not just lower the voice down. Try not to ring the loudspeaker when it's ok. What's th euse in pressing it all the time if you are in a traffic jam. Nobody want to be blocked in the middle of the road if he can manage to move. There is no need for your blaster to remind him to move his car except he is in some deep thoughts and forgets what situation he is in, which is really very rear. Ok, we are all dragon's heir and we should learn how to appear harmonious as we are building a harmonious society and we are telling the world that we are a great nation and we have great people.

What am I expecting to do for my country. My mind is like this water, when it is agitated, it becomes difficult to see, but if I allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear. Ok, I pray and believe tomorrow will be better.

I am Chinese, i believe that i should love my country. Yes, i do. However, there are some Chinese which really disappoint you. In that situation i would use the term "people not bleeding the Chinese Blood".

Yes people can be a disappointment, I remember when I working there was a supervisor who was very hard of some new young people picking on them all the time, she was avery nasty lady, some of us long time workers decided to go to management and try and put a stop to her, well the big bosses and the union were broght in but some of the people were did a lot of the complaining who were supposed to back us wouldn't go through with it...I guess they chickened out...but we the ones that stood up and said it as it was ending up winning...yes people can be very selfish in todays world, not just the chinese, its a sad time.

Hi Hiddenwing. I'm sorry you're having all these disappointing revelations about your countrymen. I would say that most of the things you mentioned could happen elsewhere as well. Sad but true. I am suprised about the woman who jumped in the river and no one saved her, but only wanted her money. It would seem that there would be SOMEONE who would have compassion enough to value a human life over money. I can't imagine that happening in the US, but it might. About your class, is there no one higher than your teacher (like the head of the school) who you could talk with about the teacher skipping class? A refund would certainly be given here because there would be too much for the school to lose if they didn't refund the money. I've never heard of a teacher skipping classes like that without setting up something in advance. You are right in being angry in these situations as other people can be a horror at times. Try to look on the bright side Hiddenwing - not ALL people are that bad. ((((HUGS))))

When I wake up in the morning, when I haven't started to think. There is a new brand day opening and waiting for me. I know life doesn't always turn the way that I want. However, destination still awaits. Anyway, I will always grow stronger in hestitation and fight back tears no matter how much it hurts. Something will not go to the effort that is required. For example, I couldn't ask for the money the back since I tried. But I would tell some people what the training school did on the other hand. As a result, they will sure lose some students. I don't mean to do this. However, they deserve it, don't they? I will try to look on the bright side. Thanks for your kind response! Have a nice life!

I'm sorry, but I can't quite follow your thinking in your last few sentences. Are you saying that it is your fault that some (or maybe many) of your countrymen are selfish? Or are you saying that it is your fault that you get mad? Maybe I missed something. I believe that what you are feeling is righteous indignation. It appears that your country is suffering a disease called commercialism. Maybe a better term might be to call it a religion, and their god is MONEY. It infected the US some time ago and is still rampant. The cure, of course, is the golden rule, "Do unto others as you should have them do unto you." Yes, there are things some of your countrymen (even those high up on the political ladder) do of which you should rightly be ashamed, as there are things which go on in my country of which I am ashamed. You are young. You can work to change those things. Teach others by word and by example. Hope you are feeling better by now.

It is all my fault, if I don't have the right to blame anyone else for something like selfishness...I've no idea what am talking about. Shame on me! I was moody all day yesterday since so many bad things happened. Thus it was hard to stand a negative social environment at the very moment. Well, that, and u know, it just made some negative thing seem so shady.
