I have never started a new discussion. I sometimes think of something when I'm not at the computer but forget about it when it is computer time. I probably wouldn't have time anyway, even though I ignore discussions for which I have no interest. No, I don't feel guilty when I do not answer all discussions.

When I was a child, our nearest neighbors were a mile or more away. There were some advantages to that, but I believe that the isolation overpowered the advantages. I would talk to the animals and sometimes even to the chickens. Currently, we have good neighbors who are as close or closer than family. I'd miss them sorely if they were not there.

Some fish sound like a safe bet, as you say that your roommates are not that agreeable. The problem with fish is that they are too quiet. They don't even pretend to listen when you talk to them They do come in pretty colors, though, and it is relaxing to watch them.

As a Christian, I believe that the whole world would be much better off if each person would thank their creator daily for all he has done for us. As a citizen of the US, I would be happy to share our Thanksgiving Day with anyone and everyone.

It's true that many subdivisions prohibit outdoor clothes lines. We live in what might be termed the "old" part of our town. One street over is a new subdivision with large houses and landscaped yards, but I would not trade my 35 year old house for a brand new one in the new subdivision. You see, they have a homeowners organization that will not allow clotheslines. They also tell the homeowners...

Our son had a black cat when he was a teenager. The cat got sick and died. Our son blamed me, for some reason. He as an indoor/outdoor cat and picked up a virus from another cat somewhere. I took him to the vet but was told there was nothing that could be cone. This was a little more than 30 years ago. Later when our son lived in an apartment by himself, he had an all white cat he called "Spot"...

I've never been in the situation you described. We only had any luxuries when I was able to work full time. The years that I stayed home to take care of our children, I had top pinch the pennies to feed and clothe the family. Growing vegetables was not fun, it was to eat.

The idea of a confinement month is a new one for me, but I think it is an absolutely fabulous idea. I would have loved to have had someone there to help when I brought my babies home. I was 25 years old when our first child was born, but I knew absolutely nothing about babies. I learned by trial and error. It is a wonder that he survived.
