OH My aching neck!

I woke up this morning, and my neck seriously hurts. I can only move it a couple inches to one side before it hurts, and I can't move it any further. I can move it to the other side just fine. My neck was fine last night. Is this what my grandma would call a "crick in the neck?" Anyone know what causes this? Will it go away? Should I be worried? Go to the emergency night clinic? Will anything fix it????? :(

This happened to me my first morning of vacation when we went to Disney. I think it was because I used an extra pillow and their pillows were pretty big so my neck was probably bent while I was sleeping. I had that crick in my neck for pretty much the whole vacation, but I had massage therapy that first day. The hotel called one in for me but it cost more than it costs here. A professional massage should help, as well as applying stuff like Tiger Balm and wearing a warm bean bag around your neck.

It might be a pinched nerve. You might consider seeing a Chiropractor. A Chiropractor could adjust your neck and make you feel better. And, yea...that is probably what your Grandma would call a "crick in the neck". LOL! One think that might help you is to put an ice pack on your neck and try to bring down any swelling to the area. That will relieve some of the pain. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Capricorn! Yeah, it's been like this going on 3 days now. My husband massaged it well last night, but unfortunately the range of motion and pain haven't gotten any better. I'm going to try a muscle relaxer today to see if it helps any. :(

Hello friend. I had the same problem four days ago. I just got recovered today. I had an afternoon nap four days ago. After I got up, I found my neck very sore and it was very difficult to move around. It was very annoying to me as I did not have a free movable neck. But as time goes by, I am happy that my neck is back to normal again at last. So don't worry, friend. I am sure that you will also get better soon. Good luck to you and bye for now.

Thank you very much Williamjisir! I actually just called one of my Dr. friends who told me pretty much the same thing. He says it will get better in 3 more days --- or else I need to go to the Dr. It's still hurting today, so I'm going to continue taking an anti-inflammatant and putting the heating pad on it. Thanks for your response, friend!

I would take some ibuprofen and maybe some heat will help, take a nice hot shower and let the warm water run on it or if you dont like heat then maybe an ice pack. It sounds to me like it's a muscle isssue. You could possibly massauge the area too.
