Fellow Bloggers: How can I verify my website account using META TAG in Google?

I'm currently having difficulty verifying my website in google webmaster tool. I chose to USE ADDING META TAG, but cannot paste it in the right location of my homepage.I use BLOGGER for my blog,and as far as i can comprehend,i will be pasting the META Tag on the EDIT HTML?is it right?When i pasted it there, the google webmaster result SAYS it was NOT VERIFIED because the META TAG is not in the correct location.Anybody who knows where is the right location to put meta tag? And also there is the anotheR OPTION thou in verifying my site,which is the used of to UPLoad HTML FILE.But i dont know where to Upload it either.Please help...
