Hotel maid told me to leave!

So the day before yesterday I went to answer my door...I'm in a hotel because my boyfriend is in the Air force and he has to come to Charolette to work sometimes...anyways I went to answer the door and the maid goes Maid: do you want your room cleaned? Me: yes please Maid: well are you leaving soon? Me: No Maid: well I'll come back later then Me: why can't you do it now? Maid: Its the hotel's policy that you have to leave the room while I clean it Me: What? I've been coming to this hotel and others for years and not one person has told me I had to leave while they cleaned Maid: Well I'm not doing it So I said fine i'll get someone else to do it and called downstairs to ask if that was a policy and they said no, you have the right to be in your room anytime you want. It's probably wrong I should think she would even try to maybe steal something of mine, but yea I have never been told to leave my room.
