Could all gas station be paying this low price and just charging us more?

Not too far from me - actually further south - there is a gas station that is selling gas for $2.85/gallon. Apparently they are one of the few ones in the area selling gas that cheap! The owner got to buy gas from his distributor for $2.50-$2.60/GALLON! Could we be being robbed by other gas stations? What would allow a company that is actually out of the way, some would say in the stix, to drop prices and get gas that cheaply, but other more convenient stations are charging more? If they are buying gas cheap the charging $3+/gallon...is that price gouging? http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2008/10/st_bernard_stations_gas_prices.html

I think the gas stations are just charging us whatever they feel like charging, It is not fair. All gas stations should charge the same amount. We have two stations here right next to each other and they are always trying to beat the other one.
