What puts me off is usually posts starting with 'hello friend'..i dont know this just strike me as weird. Grammar, I dont care much about, as long as I can understand what they mean. Sometimes its hard to figure it out. I try my best to speak as good enlish as possible, of course it is difficult to speak up in a foreign language, even though my english isnt that bad. What I have problems with is fast typing..and thus making too many mistakes Sometimes when I read my posts and see how many letters are missing all the misspellings..i soooo wish there was an edit button lol

Hi Jolope, I can understand you, a friend of mine told me, grammar is very important, you will lose credits if you have poor grammar. I am not an English native speaker, and I am still learing and trying to better write or speak with English. hehe Happy Mylotting

Well, yeah, some times we come across discussions that we don't easily understand because of incorrect grammar. Well, I think it's fine but the draw back is, since it cannot be understood, a lot of people won't post. It would really help to learn English well. She may just be starting to learn and use it. I was once like that, having a difficult time adjusting to the new language, as well as some whose English isn't their native language. And I agree with you that she may have done her best to post that discussion. Who knows? In time she could even be a great English speaker. It's definitely fine. You're just expressing yourself. She could read other posts and learn from them. There's always a first time for everything. Take care.

I dont mind at all since nobody is really perfect. At least she tried her best. She will improve eventually as she keeps on participating in different discussion. The main thing is she have done her best. If english is not her first language i cant criticized her for being poor in grammar. It is normal that if it is not your first dialect you always commit mistakes. Specially if you are still starting to learn the english language.

I completely agree. Bad grammar is one of my biggest pet peeves. It is so distracting that it's really difficult to follow the gist of a post sometimes.

When I first joined Mylot, I would usually notice the bad grammar in some discussions. But eventually, I realized that the members of Mylot come from different countries in the whole world. A lot of people would like to write in English, even if English is not their first language. They really do their best, and we can all see that. I guess here at Mylot, whats important is that you get your message across. People will respond to your thoughts and ideas, even if you can't write in English perfectly!

For me, i don't really care about the grammar. I am not good at it either. English is not my first language too and sometimes it's hard for me to answer some discussions, which i hope all my grammar is correct. I think most of the members here are not good in english like me, so i think we have to consider it sometimes. I don't think it's because their english is bad, it would stop me to respond to the discussion. I even salute them because they tried their best to speak the languge they haven't born with. happy mylotting!

As myLot is a place for people from many countries and such, you might not be able to find perfectly written grammar. In fact I ave seen a lot of discussions from people who do not speak English regularly, but have good enough grammar. You shouldn't get demotivated because of that. bourne

I never cared much for grammar. All I am interested is in a discussion. If the discussion can be understood even with poor grammar, it is OK for me.

grammar I guess bugs me sometimes but its only when i have NO IDEA what the person was trying to say in the first place. If I can understand what they are saying I am more apt to write them back but if I cant understand anything else I wont go near it lol

hi friend, Come on, u cannot critcize anybody for not knowing grammar or having "super" bad grammar......... i dont mind anybody discussing with me and having bad grammar as long as i understand him/her....... but if its really too bad and u cant understand anything u have to move a step forward and ask that person to sort out things and even after that u dont understand u have to tell that person to stop......... i hope that the person u r talking abt is really bad in grammar......... have a nice day.....

I really don't mind bad grammar.I just try to read what she is saying to the best of my ability.Maybe she doesn't know english too well and is doing her best or maybe she didn't go far in school-whatever the case-it doesn't bother me-happy mylotting

I depends on where I come across it. If it is here, I have to understand that English is not everyone's primary language. I love meeting and talking to people from other countries. As long as the meaning and intent are there, grammatical errors don't bother me.

I always have a hard time understanding posts like that. But, I still respond to it as long as I can understand(even though I had a hard time) what the discussion wanna say or state, and it interests me. There are a lot of international users that are not that good at the language but at lest they tried. Happy posting!!

I'm also not good in grammar. So i really don't care whether they can write in a right words without grammar mistakes. But i still agree with you , we have to learn grammar eventhough english language is not our mother tongue. That's only my opinion..
