During a rainy day, if you are supposed to travel by air, how do you prepare yourself for the turbulance in the flight and do you ever have fear of your life.

I was traveling in the back of my boyfriend's car when I was in Australia. His friend was sitting in the front passenger seat and we dropped the friend at a party. I stayed in the back seat to save time because we wanted to go home quickly. It was a wet evening and it was dark. Going over a bridge the car skidded and it almost hit someone walking on the pavement. It nearly went over the barrier into the river. It was sort of going in zig zags and my boyfriend had difficulty stopping his car. I was terrified and he was upset about his car after that terrible event. He phoned the break down people and they picked us up. I felt sad because he should have been delighted we were both safe and nobody had been hurt. But he just moaned about his car. By air I had one very turbulent flight from London to Tunis and from there to Sfax.Ispilled coffee all over me, got terrible ear pain and was sick. I dropped my immigration card and went half deaf for half an hour. It was the worst flight of my life but I didn't fear for my life. I am describing pain, discomfort and fright rather than any real danger. All the other flights I have been on have been smooth or only a bit bumpy. Good luck flying in the future and maybe you could take a lucky mascot with you that might give you some comfort.

When I have to fly during turbulence I usually try to bring something relaxing on the plane with me like a book or make sure I have my favorite songs on my laptop for when I can use it. Also, my mom says that chewing gum helps. I am not sure how well it works, but for me it helps take my mind somewhat off the turbulence and any thoughts of the plane crashing. It is important to be relaxed and not to uptight, atleast that's what I think

you are rightto have something to relax our mind in aturbulant flight. What we need is to divert our attention sothat the fear level will come down.Regarding chewing gum I too know but definitely I willtry that.

I cannot overcome my fear in boarding planes. If I have a choice and time I'd rather wait a month just boarding land vehicle ahhhhhh... I usually close my eyes when the plane I am boarding gets bump at something soft but huge in the air. I pray for every second that I traveled and felt awkwardly relieve when we finally reach my destination. I dont know why I fear so much of travelling tru air, but its true if possible I would have chosen to travel by land all the time.

I have a greater fear of throwing up on a plane than of the plane crashing! I suppose the probability of the former is higher.....
