i work at walmart and i need to say that after a year i regret ever applying there. The conditions for all the employes have changed so much. We are being neglected by managment, the open door policy went out the window and we are working horrible shift hours beacause we keep loosing employes. We all try our best to be nice to the customers but when we know that future walmart will screw them over the way they are us it makes us want to tell them everything but we have to stay silent. And then despite working long hours really rude people who dont know the first thing about working at walmart come in and try to tell us how to do our job even when we are doing it the right way...is it just me or are all wal-marts hitting the same low?

I used to work for walmart back in the mid-90's. The store I worked at wasn't that bad, but I have heard that walmart as a whole has gone WAY downhill in the last few years. Sam Walton is probably cutting flips in his casket, or at least he would be if he could see how his kids and the rest of the gang have run that company into the ground. Walmart used to be a very respectable company that took care of its employees. Now, I hear more and more stories of how it screws them over. I only shop at Walmart if I have no other choice. Otherwise, I like to go elsewhere. I know several people who will drive by a walmart on their way to other stores, even with gas prices as high as they are, because they don't want to shop their either. It doesn't do any good to voice your opinions, because senior management is part of the problem. I wish another company would come along that could compete with walmart and really put a hurting on them financially. The only one I can think of that would even be able to come close at all would be Target, but I don't think that even Target can touch them. Walmart is too well-established. The only real way to make any changes to the way walmart does business is to band together and refuse to shop there. Walmart has enough employees that if all of you refused to shop there and started taking your business elsewhere, you may be able to make a difference if you all make it known what you are doing and why you are doing it. It would take a collective effort, though. A few people wouldn't be able to do it alone.

I asked a member of managment what would happen if we did that and you know what he told me. It would not matter if the employes even went on strike we would be fired and replaced within a couple of days. THEY DONT CARE :(

I wasn't saying to go on strike...I was saying to keep doing your job, but when it came time to do your shopping for the stuff you need...go somewhere else. Let it be known that you are going to shop at another store because you don't agree with some of the things going on. They can't fire you for shopping elsewhere...and if you could get more and more employees nationwide to start doing this...you may be able to get their attention.

Hi there allison! When I was in graduate school, I remember working on a case about Wal-Mart. Our professor required us to look into issues the company was confronted with. In that particular case, we saw that there was something wrong about the company. Specifically, there was something wrong about how they treat their employees. When I researched on the history of Wal-Mart, I came across several articles about it. All were good things about Wal-Mart. But then I realized that they are old articles. After a while, I found a lot of articles about how Wal-Mart is NOW. There must be something wrong with how the current managers are leading the organization. I am truly sorry to hear about your own experience.

hi, i do not know which country are you working in? i believed walmart is a worldwide franchise and there are numerous over here in china. my friend's mum is working in a walmart promoting milk powder and from what i heard, she seems to be doing ok. she works 2 shifts, day and afternoon. she gets to report off at 3 for the morning shift and at 10 for the afternoon shift. the pay is peg to the market rate and she has no complaint. so maybe it is different for every person and it will also depends on which department you worked in. economy not doing well at the moment and competition for jobs is very tough now and everybody is hanging on to the own rice bowl for fear of retrenchment. maybe u can enquire around and secure feedbacks from your colleauges if they feel the same.

I used to work for Walmart and they are prety much the same way every place you go. They need a union but walmart will close the store down before one can get in there. If you really think about Walmart is partly the cause of why so many job are over seas. There used to be factor jobs with good pay and benifits but thanks to Walmart they are no more. I like to ask everyone this did you really save that much? They have sent jobs to other coutries and 95 percent of walmart employees are on welfair and so next time you buy that 2 dollars shirt that maybe someone 20 dollar hour job be shipped to overseas.

i believe all walmarts are the same way. my aunt works at wal-mart and everytime i talk to her there is always some type of drama going on . like the days missed from work thing. there was a lady who had a heart attack that worked there. her family didn't really think of notifying her job at the moment due to worrying about her. well do you know what management did? they fired her! because she didn't call. how crazy is that?? well anyway she ended up getting her job back. just stupid lil stuff like that. and the managers are not exactly what u would call great. they basically get treated like crap. and walmart being the greedy corporate monster it is, is cutting jobs and making ppl slave workers. its really sad actually. i just don't think i could deal.
