Hi everyone! I am having a vacation at my parent's house. Well actually this is also my house. All my siblings are here but I have been living alone in our hometown for more that 10 years now. I have been here for 3 weeks and I'm beginning to feel homesick already. Though I'm with my family now I still miss my own place. I miss my bed, my couch, TV and all my stuffs. I also worry about my plants. No one is there to water them. I miss cleaning my house. I miss taking care of my pad. I like having a vacation here in at my parent's place don't get me wrong. Spending some time with my family. I get to eat good food and there's a maid who does my laundry. Actually I'm not doing any house chores here unlike in my place where I have to do everything myself. I guess I miss being independent. You know, doing things at your own time with no one telling you when. How about you guys? Do you have your own place? Have you been gone from home for a long time? Which do you prefer, living independently or with your family?

Yes, if I am away from home for a week or so I feel homesick. I feel that - "East or west, home is the best". Wherever you are, either in a luxury five star hotel or at any comfortable place, you cannot get the environment of your home. I always prefer my home insted of going to other places. I do not feel like staying even at any of my relative's place, I feel ill at ease over there.

Yeah me too. I don't like sleeping over at my relatives houses. I have tried it once and I can't just sleep. I'd rather spend the night in a hotel if I'm far from home. It's much cozier in a hotel than in a relatives house. Happy mylotting!

Oh there are a lot of families experiencing that kind of situation. But I guess one can endure the feeling of being himesick if its for the family's future. Thanks for sharing!

I've been living with my parents since birth . Never been separated from them for the longest time honestly. What happens to me was the other way around pal. When I was given the chance to have a vacation at my uncle's place at bohol (Philippines), I did feel homesick immediately that time. That if only our place is just a bus away, I'd definitely be home sooner. I miss my mom and dad right then and there. As well as my bed like you did and other stuff. Whew!

Oh you haven't been separated from your family since birth? If you would often have a vacation then you'll get use from being far your family sometimes. But of course, being in our home with our family is still the best place on earth. Thanks for sharing!

i will be homesick if i left my house for a very long time period which is more than a year. this is becouse i love my family very much. but if it just for a few month it will be okey for me cause i already used to it. i am a college student any way. so of couse i need to be indipendent and not relying so much on my family. it is time to learn how to manage our own life.

Yes fellow lotter you're right. We should learn how to be independent sometimes. It would be for our own benefit. It can make us more responsible in life. Keep posting!

cooking - man and woman cooking
I also miss my mom's cooking. When I'm alone in my place and don't have good food to eat and getting bored of the noodles hehe I miss my mom's cooking. I believe that's the number one thing we miss when we're far from home, good food.[em]happy[/em ]Keep posting!

Hehehe I was just like you during my first years of independence. I was so lazy. But as years go by I became organized and learned how to do things in the house. You'll get used to cleaning your room soon. And it will make you happy learning it. Keep posting!

I kind of have two homes really. I've found I don't miss my home as much as I miss some of the things at my home. And, my apartment, the place where I spend my time while I am in school, I tend to miss that more. It's like my own place and I can do my own thing there. I can clean, have my own bed, all of those things. So I do miss it sometimes when I'm not here for long periods of time.

I still live with my parents. That's how they have always wanted it to be. I love my parents and I do not regret having to live with them even if I am old enough to have my own place. When I travel, which I often do, I sometimes feel homesick. But I do not really feel bad as my parents would either call or text me. And of course, I do the same.

Hey I think it's still sweet of you to be living with your parents. It's ok for me to live with them but I am now used to living alone so I just visit them if I have time. Ciao!

I am not sure I would classify it as homesick, but I always miss my own house when I am gone for a few days! That feeling of being in your own bed and chair and comfortable surroundings has quite a pull, doesn't it. Although, if it were somewhere, like your family, who has a maid, I might have to reconsider! :-)

I believe you only feel homesick the first few weeks to months, or should i say that was my experience. I moved from my country and, now living in Canada. I felt so homesick, but a great tip is to make new friends in the new area.I believe it makes the new place feel more welcome.
