Costume Ideas

Australia

I'm going to see a band's halloween show in a couple of weeks and everyone must get dressed up. Since I am saving madly for my trip to America I don't want to spend a cent. Because halloween isn't somethign we celebrate here in Australia, I"m stuck for costume ideas. So I want an absolutely free (maybe 5 bucks max) costume that's basic, cool and original. Can anybody help with ideas?

I once had to throw a costume together at the last minute and came up with a novel, yet admittedly rather gross idea. I got some bunny ears and smeared fake blood over my face and carried around a cooking pot. I went as the rabbit from Fatal Attraction.

I have not seen that movie..was the bunny a dressed up murderer or something? A costume like that would fit in perfectly with this band...even if no one knows what I'm meant to be! Thanks I'll keep it in mind.

How do you seem these ideas? I like and are very cheap. For some not even have to pay anything ... I mean sure you have those things around the house. See here: www.robinsfyi.com/holidays/halloween/costumes.htm You can try and this, they are still made at home: http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/specialfeature/halloween_ms_costumes/ Have fun!

Let's see, you could put make up on and be a vamp, or leave the make up off and be a hag...JUT KIDDING! But really, if you have a fancy belt, you could fashion a bed sheet into a toga and go as Pompeia..of course, then you would have to be above suspicion. Lol. I wonder what color Pompeia's hair would be if she were alive today. Purple, pink, or gray?

You can go garbage. Get a big leaf bag, staple food labels, paper plates, all kinds of "garbage" smear your face with black stuff, spike your hair or make it really messy. This was a really fun one! What part of the states are you visiting?

Thank you! I've added it to my list of things to do. How far is Gatlinburg from Memphis? I don't know how far away from Memphis we plan on traveling, but my dream is to go to a little food joint like this thats tucked away somewhere. It looks great!

Cool! If you go to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. You must go to The Burning Bush in Gatlinburg. It is a great restaurant with incredible food http://dininginthesmokies.com/_gatlinb/gdburbus.htm You won't be disappointed.

Hi coffeeshot, I'm not very good at these things because I bought a witches outfit couple years ago and I will be weraing that this at out party, but if you ar going as a withc just find a black dress and buy a witches hat quite cheap, get black materia and make a closk with it and put green makeup or something, you cant yourself a cheap wig as well and your done, don't forget the broomstick. I often go as a little girl on Christmas Morning. I have long hair that I put in pigtails and I wear a one-peice pajama thing that has a flap in the back - it has the Looney Toons characters on it with Santa Hats. I'll carry a holiday gift and teddy bear around. One year I made my son's devil costume out of a red jacket he had and some red sweat pants. I crocheted a tail and pinned it to the paints, and bought the horns and pitchfork at the dollar store. Good luck!

Hippie, Hippie Shake - Two female hippies
The easiest costume I have wore was a " Hippie". Do you have either a tie dyed t-shirt or a white flowing shirt? If so, wear it with your favorite pair of jeans, wear some necklaces and bracelets and maybe a headband and you are set.If you are not into jeans, wear a long, flowing dress. Add a belt and a headband and you are a hippie.

wish I could help, I own several capes and I pull them out when I want a quick costume, but that doesn't help you any.

For one of my costumes I cut rags up and sewed them to an old shirt and pants and tied them to my hair and went as the rag lady. I also tied shoes to my pants and shirts and was the old woman who lived in a shoe. I got a lot of laughs with that one. I put teddy bears and stuffed toys in the shoes as my kids. I hope this helps.

Go as Haylie Ecker or some other member of bond. I guess you would have to make a fake electric violin since a real one would be too expensive. But it would fit in with the band theme. Wear one on her sexy outfits, just something short, etc. You probably already have the Aussie accent.

One of my most successful 'costumes' was created in junior high when another girl and myself changed clothes with each other... since we had totally different styles, we looked 'costumed', especially when we wore each other's make-up! And best of all... no expense!

Sorry my friend, I cant' give you an advice on what costume to wear because I never attend halloween party or show. Never! And I hope you will not mind if I share the reasons why I never attend such celebration. First and foremost reason is that because my Christian faith is against Halloween celebration. While Scripture does not speak at all about Halloween, it has clear principles which make me dislike Halloween celebration. Perhaps other Christians who are not in the know will say why not? Some Christians celebrate Halloween simply by dressing up in a costume and having fun, and it seems innocent and harmless. Well, I wished they know that Halloween is of pagan origin, a satanic holiday established to worship evil spirits and promote darkness and wickedness so I believe that as a Christian if I would join Halloween parties I would be compromising my faith? That is my personal opinion! Sorry friend but I was just pushed by my Faith to discuss this. I hope you did not mind. Have a nice day!

if you have an idea of what you want to go as,try the op shops for clothes as they are cheap and you can really find a bargain there.try the salvo's or what ever op shops you have there.my daughter goes to a performing arts school and always needs costumes etc,so we just hunt in the op shops, even if it is just for some cheap material to make something up.cheers sue
