Hi filipino mylotters. Have you noticed the Bayani Fernando MMDA posters? I just were the funding from those come from? Since they have MMDA printed on them, I would assume that it comes from MMDA funds. Is that really were my taxes go? I mean shouldn't it go to something else which would benifit more people? I hate looking at my payslip. Especially tax deduction. Come on! There are a lot more things that I could purchase with the money that I am paying the government.

I believe he is using our taxes. Mind you, when I was working in an NGO-funded project with MMDA, it kind of saddened me because he wanted to have the donor's money be used in promotional materials. We just ended our contract for that year. Oh well, it's just a sad fact that a lot of government appointees tend to use their power in a manipulative way.

Where else would the money come from except of course if it was sponsored by someone close to Bayani which I think is impossible right now since election is far yet. I know it is just plain depressing to know that taxes do go from those useless posters. With regards to taxes deducted well being a good citizens of this country we are obliged to pay them since its our share with the government to maintain everything. Not paying taxes would mean that we won't have a functional government which means our money earned won't be of value anymore. Although we may have a less than perfect government because of the corruption and everything but its because of the taxes we pay that our country still exist to be. It may be chaotic but still there is peace and order somehow. How would be the policemen be forced to work if they do not received salary because we don't pay taxes. So taxes are just the means for our government to function properly. Although there are misappropriations in it but there are basic services that are being delivere to make things work at least.

I agree with you that it's a neccessary evil. Taxes are very useful is needed to make this government work. But sometimes it's not use for the right reasons. Thanks for the response

Yes, that's part of your tax there. Who wouldn't hate tax deductions? I mean, we're not like other countries where taxes are used for the welfare of the people(such as healthcare and education) but rather on wasteful stuffs such as campaign posters and the never-ending cycle of destroying-creating concrete roads(sometimes even destroy a road just to put asphalt). Of course, when you're seeing your taxes go to waste, it is such a sad feeling, especially since the biggest deduction on a payslip is the tax deduction, don't you agree?! Heehee. PHP1k+ always goes to waste, if you ask me. Heehee. I still like Bayani Fernando though. Heehee.

Thanks for the response. I think taxes should be allocated to those king of services. I was watching "Walang iwanan" last week. And Lance Gokungwei said "If you want to help. Teach the poor how to fish rather than give them the fish all the time"
