Matthew 6:31 said: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness..." This verse is telling us, as Bible believing person, that we need to put God first in everything we do. Meaning, in all aspect of our lives, God should be our first priority. How shall we put God first in our life? What are your ways of showing that you really want to prioritized God? For me I can show it by setting aside time for prayers. Every morning, I pray first before I go to my regular routine. This is my little way of putting God first. How about you my friend?

Hi. My Testimony as a Christian is the proof i can share to show that I put God first in my life. My parents are devoted to their religion to the point that they want their children to follow their footsteps. My sisters and brother went against their religion so they were very furious. I had a personal encounter with Him that He urged me to follow Him. I did follow Him but it was hidden to my parents. Because I don't want to hurt them and I am afraid to what might happen. My mother has a heart ailment. One night while I am reading my Bible, I came across with the verse, No one who loves his father or mother more than me is worthy of me. By not revealing to my parents that I am no longer with them in that traditional religion, I am putting them first than God. It is them I am patronizing because I don't want to disobey them or hurt them. After one year, God told me, "I have waited for you so long now. If you deny me now, I will also deny you in front of my Father in heaven." In short I told my parents all about it and there I have proven that God comes first in my life over family. If you are interested in the full story, visit this site because this is where My Testimony can be read in full text. No shortcuts and I say with pride how much of the Lord has done for me. http://princessthinker.blog.friendster.com/2008/09/my-testimony/ Godspeed.

Its a very wonderful testimony of you. Yeah, I believe that there is no greater evidence a person can prove that He/she is putting God first than to boldly know Him and be known to others--cheers

For me the verse speaks about Christianity. Christianity is a relationship with God through Christ. If we have a relationship with Him and since He is God we have to consider Him in everything we do. He wants the best for us but we can only achieve what is best if we seek Him. Being in the kingdom of God is the greatest achievement we can have and God wants us to be part of that. I agree with you that prayer is one way of showing that God is our priority. I'm talking here about praying first before making any decision. Through prayer we can also praise and give our thanks to God no matter what circumstance we are in. It is our heart when in a situation that matters to Him than on our state. Another way of putting God first is to love those whom He loves. I'm talking about fellow believers. The Bible says that we have to consider our brothers and sisters first. It doesn't mean that we should neglect other people. It's just because when we love each other, we can easily help other people. At work we put God first when we work not for our bosses but for Him. Many people may be doing something that is bad and you just not say that you can also do it because many people are doing it. You would decide of doing something not because people do it but whether it is acceptable or not in the eyes of the Lord. Lastly, we put God first when we tend to get to know Him more through the things we do and through the things we see. Reading the Bible is a big part on this. The Scriptures reveal many things about God if we read it. But it is also the experiences in our lives that we get to know Him more. Some of the creations of God I see around amaze me sometimes and it makes me praise God for his creation. Putting God first in our prayers is demonstrated by Jesus in the Lord's Prayer. He gave thanks and praised God before asking anything. We can follow His pattern. In our prayers we tend to treat God like Santa Claus. God I want this and I want that... I pray that my plans will succeed... I think it is better if we ask God's purpose in us instead of asking Him to make our plans succeed.

I always try to put God first but the things we tends to do and think that it is putting God first is not the right way. Prayers is one but putting God first we should always do the things that he commands us to do. Reading and obeying the commandments are things that we are not doing. Spreading the gospels alot of us are short of this also. I am not judging but this scripture is one that tends to let us reflect on the things that we are not doing in the correct way. I am praying and asking God that he sustain me to do the things that I know that I should do in putting him first. Worshipping and reading the bible on a daily basis, putting what I am reading in the actuality in my life. I wish you all God blessing. Kerry
