green-go and as the poem of my pre schoolers go-yellow means wait even if you're late...? This never occured to my mind even if I am always on the road everyday, until now. Cant stop be blue or the yellow or the green? I know red is connected to danger...but I wonder why...the colors tell us something of course, like my children doesnt want me to write their teacher using red pen as they associate it with anger. Do you have your own interpretation of colors?hope you can share.Thanks.

i personally think that red suits well as a stop sign.it's color and sharpness will really catch the driver's attention.it's like a warning or something that tells you to stop.if other colors will be used like blue perhaps,it wouldn't be that striking especially at night time.anywayz, happy mylotting!

To go along with the colors for kids..you teach children fire is hot which comes as red or heat equal to danger..like blue is cool like water and green is kind to the eyes and feels as grass,leaves..purple as rich and bright silky...brown like dirt earthy...pink as flirty sweet and fun like cotton candy.. and so on..

I think the main reason was that the color red is very bright and could easily be spotted even in a distance especially when you are approaching an intersection. It will really get your attention even in any background whether the sky is dark or bright. Unlike blue or yellow which might be mistaken for a blue sky or a bright sun.

I never thought about it. I guess the colors that are used are the ones that the most easily seen. i'm sure there is some kind of science behind it. They are the same all over this country and Canada. I'm not sure about the signals in other parts of the world. This is a godo question.

yes-the signal lights are universal---they are the same all over the world. I found it very funny though, when I was in Thailand, when the light turns red a big iron pole comes down in a sort of bar like it is a gate.Nice way to train motorists to really stop.tnx for sharing.
