Why do my golden fishes die?

I have a fish tank at home. I love golden fishes but i have lost almost six pairs of them. i am almost thinking not to buy them anymore because of the fear of killing one more pair.
Other fishes do well in my fish tank but what happens to these golden fishes. i don't know.
Can some one share their experience and knowledge on golden fishes so that i also will have golden fishes in my fish tank?

I used to have goldfish too and had them in a fish tank inside my home. they did not last long for me either. I have them out in my pond outside though and they are doing very well. I have not lost any of them. I think those types of fish like pond water more than fresh water.
