Are you concerned about keeping your house in order ?

This is one field in which i have some controversy with my husband. He is very much concerned that the children just maintain the things in a very tidy manner. Each item should be placed back after use but i have a feeling that something is missing if every item is in order. Some things lying here and there just remind me that the house is a lively one with children around and their mischiefs, moving things around here and there add to the liveliness of the house. How are things at your end? Are you strict with your children that they keep things in an orderly manner or do you too become children with them and enjoy their mischiefs.

I don't have any children but I do want my things to be in order. It's good to train the kids up to be in orderly fashion as well. Otherwise, the next thing you know is they've misplaced your diamond ring or something. :) It's a good lesson for them to learn.

My husband and I would both agree with you on this matter. We are more interesting in having houses that are lived in, than houses that are in perfect order. In order to keep a house perfectly tidy, one must devote almost their entire lives to cleaning, and we just don't have the time for that.

oops,....I fall in the same category as your husband...lol. Well, not perfectly organized....but atleast some semblence of it. I do not mind a few things which can be picked up and kept back....but too much of it and it drives me crazy. I can't function till everything is in it's place first.

I have always wished for keeping my house in order but unfortunately not been able to implement it in the strictest sense so far.It requires a concerted effort from all members of the family. If one member is defiant in keeping the house in order the order can't be achieved.According to me a house ,neat and tidy,is neighbour's envy.It is admired by all.It is not the size of the house but how you keep it does matter. In my house I always want to keep it in order but no one else shows that much responsibility. In the morning I will pile up all the newspapers, magazines, journals etc. in a corner but when I return home in the evening everything will be seen scattered here and there.A complete disorientation of the house is what I witness in the evenings.I have tried my level best to inculcate the virtues of neatness and tidiness of the house but to no avail. Both my dad and mom seem to be indifferent towards my attitude.I am so sorry to disagree with your proposition of the feeling of missing if everything is in order. At least you will be able to know if something is really missing if everything is,usually, in its place. But you will not be knowing that if the house is a mess.In a disorganised house if something is missing you will take it for granted thinking that it would be somewhere among that mess.

My house is very tidy and orderly because there is just my husband and myself living in it. Our children have grown up and moved into their own houses. However, when they were young, my house often looked like a bomb site. It was pointless tidying up every day, so as soon as the children were in bed, I would just pile everyting into a corner where the children could easily find it the next day.

I like to live in a clean room and hope everything is in order, so when my naughty son makes his room in a mess, i will lose my temper and get angry, my son would be intimidated and obey me at last. My husband doesn't think it a good idea to keep everything in good otder since we have such a young child, we often quarreled with eacher about it, and usually we couln't reach consistency. it does hurt.

A house needs to look like someone actually lives there in order to be a home. Otherwise, it's just a showplace.
