OMG! I feel soooooo bad even though the owner knows it wasn't my fault. As I was driving home a dog, a big one, dotted in front of my car. I felt me hitting him and he broke my head light. The dog though ran off and was as playful as ever. I stopped the car got out to make sure the doggie was ok. I felt so bad. The owners were cool about it saying they knew it was going to happen because he was dark and loved to chase cars. But I do not forgive myself. The dog was ok, he was bleeding a little at the flap of his mouth but was licking me like crazy. I still cannot believe he seems unharmed. My headlight is glass and his head broke it. How can he be ok????? I guess the good lord was watching out for us. The owners offered to pay for my broken headlight but I told them no way as I am at fault as well. I offered to take him to a vet but they declined said he seemed to be ok. Another bad part the owner is another mother in my son's Cub Scouts den! I feel really bad as I am the den mother. I think I will stop by with some bacon treats to see how he is doing when I get off work. I feel so dang terrible about this...

I'm sorry. I hit a bird one time and unfortunately it didn't have such a good outcome! I felt really badly and I am really glad that you had a good outcome. I went to school with some boys that used to intentionally run over dogs and other animals. It was disgusting. I'm glad you have some compassion!

Your funny, I didn't think about it that way!!! I bet it is all their fault for trying to impress! :-)

You have no reason to feel bad. You did not do this on purpose. The dog ran in front of your vehicle. I must say that you both were very fortunate, especially the dog. This could have been very tragic. I'm sorry to hear about your car, but I am glad that the dog is fine.

OH. MAN. Poor you and poor dog! Hope you've forgiven yourself and moved on.. Mistakes happen, and things like these happen.. We need to forgive ourselves when these things come to test us.. We can't move on unless we do.. God bless you!

Oh, I understand how you feel.Don't feel bad, it was an accident. Think of it this way, at least he didn't die and is doing better. I guess just be more careful next time? Sometimes animals do what instincts tell them to do, not thinking they would be in danger. Cheer up. Hugs to you!

That really sucks. I'm glad he's okay! I'm sure you were pretty shook up, I know I would be. I remember when I was a kid on the way to my baseball game, my mom accidentally hit a cat, still remember it like it was yesterday. So sad and scary.

I understand why you feel bad, so would I, but it wasn't your fault. It's their fault for not keeping their pet in the house or yard, and I would've let them pay for it if I were you. But, the most important thing is that the dog's ok! Last winter I had to take my very drunk boss home after an office party and the same thing happened to me. Their dog is a car chaser too and he ran infront of me and I swerved as best I could but still clipped him with the corner of my little SUV. At the time I just jumped out and went straight to the dog to make sure he was OK. I was amazed that he was absolutely fine, jumping around and loving me, and never even thought to check my bumper. When I got home I noticed that the entire corner of my SUV was missing! The bumper, fog light, everything. So it's pretty amazing what a dog can take, I guess they're tougher than our vehicles!
