My company doesn't allow any internet chatting, there is no facebook or myspace allowed, you cannot even check your personal email as well.. And there is no way you can watch movies or play any games online.. I just wonder what do you guys do cause I've been wiki-ing and all and now i don't know what to do.. :) Thanks!

i had a short stint in n on an orphanage before and when it gets really boring because the children are at school and no one else around, I go to the kitchen and have chitchat with the cook and the laundry woman and we eat or have coffee. Then the priest would reprimand us and I don't go there anymore for many days then i would chat with the other friendly priest and have coffee or snacks at the kitchen hehehe

why would the priest reprimand you guys for just chatting? It's not like you have kids there...

because he said there's plenty of work to do. that's why some caregivers who are having on the job training there are chatting with each other careful not to be caught by this priest.

When I used to work in an office (before kids) I would keep a magazine in my desk drawer. On the very few days that it was slow, I would put the magazine in a folder and look through it while sitting at my desk. Then if someone came in I would just close the folder. Other times I would take the slow moments to clean my desk real good and the phone. There's always germs to clean.

Must be really boring then! I'd most probably daydream. With all the paperwork around me, calculators, whatever, just to look busy - I'd pretend to work, while daydreaming; or think up topics to post on myLot, how to write articles, or lists for shopping or Christmas presents....!

For me, i also work using computer, deal with business via internet and tellphone. If there are no clients enquiry, then i read books in office to learn more knowledge and improve sale skills. even boss find it , he did not forbid. At noon, read newspaper or magazine for a short time, then took nap. when i back home after dinner, enjoy surfing freely.

Its been a long time since I had extra time in my hands during working hours. But ifever I do, I would probably jutting down notes to myself, things to dos, maybe read a book, newspaper or magazine. I would also take time to write letters and notes to my friends and loved ones. At present, people are too busy to even say hello or check on how other people are doing. I think your friends would appreciate you taking the time to write to them. Written letters are still more sentimental than emails.

Well, there is never time at work that I don't have something to do. I work in a grocery store and I am always busy. I find that I don't have time to do the work that needs to be done much less anything else. I would like to work somewhere where I could check my email and stuff online while at work, but then I would probably never get any work done.

I am usualy on the computer whenever I have downtime at work. I will either be on here catching up, playing some game or visiting other chat sites like this one.

I don't even have a computer in the room I work in. I work in the child watch part of my local YMCA and when you don't have any kids in their it can get a little bit boring I take a magazine to look at. We usually have kids but sometime there will be half an hour or an hour of no kids to watch.

We post on Mylot!;) Come on, don't tell me you didn't expect someone to give that answer. As for me, I like to write stories. Short stories, long stories, anything. And with a word document open, it's quite hard for anyone to look at my desktop and assume I'm slacking because all they see is an office document. Also, since you mentioned games, if you're actually able to play games at work (like won't get in trouble or can hide it from sight) I'd say to download some games at home, put them on a thumb drive, and then upload them at work. My personal favorite is the NES Emulator and some ROMs (games) that simulate the old Nintendo games. Small files, won't be blocked, and a fun blast from the past.
