I once asked what your greatest sound to hear is and have been inspired by anther member to put a slightly different spin on the same question. (Thanks s*******) So what is the most wonderful aroma in your opinion? I personally love the smell of freshly baking bread or cookies, the rain and the ocean.

Smell of rain, coffee, bakery, fresh laundry, familiar smell of some Filipino food or any kind of food for that matter and boyfriend's natural scent.

The best thing of all SaintAnne is that every example you have just given could all be present in the one place at the one time! Now imagine THAT! (assuming it's a cafe next to a Laundromat! lol) Thanks for the response.

How could I have forgotten to add our little doggie's smell to that list? She smells bad sometimes but her smell comforts me.

I love the smell the air gets just before it starts to rain, and the smell the rain makes when it hits the ground, whether it is hitting dirt or grass. I love the smell of cinnamon. And, I love the smell of a baby right after they've had a bath. I love the smell of bread cooking, and I love the smells of Christmas that waft through the house on Christmas morning. I can't pick a favorite smell, I am a "smells" freak.

Rain seems to be a popular favourite here! I just wish I had the chance to smell it more often. There is a chain of cafe/bakeries here called "Cinnabon" and as soon as you step off the escalator the smell of cinnamon laced baking hiys you in the face, it's a wonderful aroma! I always knew you were a freak Bo; I just never realized that you saw it as streamlined into smells only! lol. Thanks for the response.

Heehee. Well, it's not limited to smells, silly. YOu know how some people like to touch things because they like different textures, I am that way with smells. And, I am just a freak in general.*L*

hi James! For me it would have to be just after a storm and the rain has come down.. it's such a fresh smell..... or some really potent skunk!

Heya Jimbo! I agree wholeheartedly that the smell of fresh rain is one of the best; but I haven't actually had the pleasure (or is it DISpleasure?) of smelling a skunk yet. But if it's just as good or even better than the smell of rain then sign me up! lol. Thanks for the response.

For me the greatest smell of all is a newborn baby. I just love the way they smell. The second would be laundry. If you walk outside someones home when they are doing laundry and you smell the scent through the dryer vent as you are walking by. It smells really nice and clean.

Actually I have heard a lot of people say they love the smell of a newborn baby; especially women! Isn't it supposed to make them all clucky or something? lol. I know the dryer smell you are talking about and it is one I like also. "Nice and clean" is a good way to describe it! Thanks for the response my2boys.

I think vanilla became my favorite scent because of my grandma..it seemed whenever she would use it and we were there she would dab some behind my ears and told me that is what they used to wear as perfume..I haven't dabbed any behind my ears in a long time..but I do by the Vanilla scented body sprays,perfumes,washes,soaps,shampoo..etc..The scent suits me well,And what is better then smelling somewhat like a cookie all day..?

Oh I miss that smell SO much! It hasn't rained here for ages unfortunately, so that smell is but a memory at the moment. I've always enjoyed the smell of vanilla too, especially when it's in something that's being baked like cakes and cookies etc. Thanks for the response Becca.

It seems to be a neck and neck battle betwwen the smell of new born babies and the rain for the best smell of all! If there ended up being a lot of babies born while it's raining then I reckon we might end up with a large number of very confused people. Thanks for the response balasri.

The greatest smell is the smell of my husband while kissing me........I never figured out what comes from his lungs or wherever it comes from but it really makes me weak. The first time we kissed I fell down. The smell of soil after the rain has rained is wonderful, it was the best before I met him.

Coffee brewing in the morning... especially when it is intermingled with the delicious aroma of sizzling bacon. Nothing will get me out of bed faster. The smell of the sea wafting in through an open window makes my heart sing. The lingering smell of Sandalwood incense brings out the mystic in me. The intoxicating aroma of Skunk makes me delirious! (Weed, not the animal, silly!!) The smell of orange blossoms makes me want to dance. But the smell of the air after a cleansing rain takes my name and I am born anew!

Hands down freshly brewing coffee is up there with the best of them and I have always stated my love of anything to do with the ocean so I have to agree with you on that one too. As far as I am concerned the ocean cures all! I had never thought of sizzling bacon smells until now and have to say that now I want some bacon! lol. I haven't had this for a very long time. Skunk weed though is an interesting one because I've never really liked the smell myself. Mix it wih orange blossoms and I just might! We had a light rain shower here again the other day and I smelled the rain before I saw it and it was fantastic. I ended up opening the door to the balcony in my office so I could hear it and smell it even moreso but it stopped as quickly as it started. On a different note, I am sure that the smell of a burning old couch will top all of these aromas you have just listed for sure. Maybe you can stuff the upholstery with sandalwood and skunk beforehand and really milk the moment!

i actually have several things that i consider as the greatest. i love the smell of morning air when i open the windows first thing in the morning. it's so energizing for me. i love the smell of my five-month old baby. she smells so nice all the time. her breath smells good too, and i actually put my nose near her little mouth and sniff it every time she yawns i love the smell of tocino cooking, it makes me wild with hunger. i love the smell of scrambled eggs, too. there are a lot of other things that smell good to me, but from the top of my head, i think that's about it.

A baby's breath is sort of sweet smelling from memory so I can appreciate how it can be a liked smell of many. I am not sure what tocino is actually but I do like the smell of many different things cooking so this sounds good to me! When I am hungry, walking through a food court with all the different smells coming from all the different food outlets drives me crazy! lol. Thanks for the response kayedanda.

I just heard this before actually that vanilla may be an aphrodisiac! This was a new thing for me to learn, that's for sure. I love the smell of vanilla too and like the taste as well. Especially when it comes from fresh vanilla pods but I haven't seen these for ages so have to stick with the essence. Thanks for the response camomom.

It's a fantastic flavour camomom. You split the pods and then scrape the pure vanilla out from inside the pod. The smell is amazing and it is as pure vanilla as you can get! If you ever see vanilla pods at the market you should get some. You only need the smallest amount for flavouring too.

I have a few that come to mind. The smell of the desert when it rains. There is nothing like it. It makes me feel weightless, because when I am able to smell rain in the desert it means that I am in wide open spaces. The smell of grass being watered. When I smell that, it means that I am at a ball park, one of my favorite places to be, with people I enjoy spending time with. The smell of my horses. I love to bury my face into the soft place on my horses face, between his lips and his cheek. I know there is a name for that place, I just can't think of it. As I breath him in, he is doing the same to me. It's our way of sharing a peaceful moment.

I love the smell of the rain too but I am not sure if I have smelled it raining in a desert as such! Arguably I guess you could say I have because Egypt is mostly desert; but I am in the City centre. One of my dreams is to one day see a professional baseball game so hopefully I can add this smell you describe to my list as well in time; although I have of course smelled grass being watered when I have been watering it myself. As for horses, I used to ride quite a bit many years ago and remember having someone tell me that one of the first things you should do when meeting a new horse for the first time is to breath each other in! Thanks for the response cowgirlheart.

I love the smell of fresh tar and of rubber (like you get from new tennis balls). I could smell them all day! I also really like the smell of garlic and of coffee, although strangely I really went off both of these smells when I was pregnant; they had the opposite effect and just made me feel sick! Luckily I like them again now. I can also relate to the people who are saying they like the smell of babies. My daughter has always smelt so lovely, especially after a bath.
