What brand of Dog Food do you feed your canine friend and why? Do you give your dog supplements in addition? If you do feed your dog kibbles, do you feed the dog anything elde in addtion to the kibble? If so, what and how often? I feed my dog Royal Canin kibble. It is formulated per breed. A bit pricey but I like how it helps keep my dogs teeth clean too. I also feed my dog white meat, rice and carrots. She also eats beets, romaine lettuce, carrots, peanuts, peas and Zukes peanut butter treats, which she loves. I do not feed my dog any supplements at this time but am considering starting her on a Omega 3 as well as an active bacteria.

Thank you and I agree. I wont feed my dog Purina brand though. Nothing with corn as a first ingredient or included in any of the ingredients for that matter. Thanks a lot for your post and pats to the kitty.

I buy my dog food from our local Pet Pantry. They offer super premium and holistic pet foods. Their foods have all natural ingredients, no wheat and corn, no byproducts, no fillers and no chemicals. What I really like about The Pet Pantry is that they deliver the food right to your door- and there's no delivery charge. With gas prices so high, it's really convenient! Plus, I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor, so I never have to carry heavy bags of dog food up to my apartment! Also, a certain percentage of every order I make goes to the rescue group I adopted my dog from! If there's a Pet Pantry in your area, I'd highly recommend ordering food from them!

What a fabulous idea! I love the Pet pantry and will have to check it out. Hats off to you for your rescue and for being a responsible pet owner. I love the idea of the delivery but the donations as well. Thanks very much for your post.

My dog eats purina little bits. I have fed him some premium breeds in the past, but I can't really afford them at this time. I think that he is doing fine on this food. Premium might be ideal but it's not in the budget. As long as I keep his people food eating to a minimum he seems to do well with what he eats.

Thank you for your comment. I heard a story about a dog the other day. He had cancer. The people had him on a human grade food diet and he lasted 14 years! with cancer.. Anyway, I think it is okay to feed your dog human food so as long as it is not like wheat, bread, potatoes etc. My little dog loves vegetables and so I give them to her. She loves cheese too but I only let her have cheese in occasionally and a very little bit. I also feed her the premium dog food, Royal Canin and is about $20 for 8kg's. I will go without to feed my dog, since she is my baby and I want what is the very best for her. She IS spoiled that way but she looks great! I do not use the Purina because it had corn as one of it's first few ingredients. Dogs can become allergic to corn and well, it just goes right through them, they don't digest it. Whereas a premium food, one will find that the dog will eat less because it fills them up more. Less food and less elimination also. Regular bowel movements is important. At least once or twice a day. On a premium food they will go at least once a day and are good to go. I understand about budget however. I also give my dog cooked white rice, cooked carrots, peas as well as white meat. Either chicken, tuna, turkey and pollock. I haven't tried salmon yet. When I first got my dog, she came with a bag of Purina puppy chow. Not only did she stop eating it before I got her, but her teeth were in terrible condition and her eyes were all mucky. She also sneezed a lot. Since I have changed her diet, she has put on weight, has stopped sneezing and her eyes a beautifully clear of gunky stuff like they were previous. I wont feed my dog corn anything. If a kibble has corn listed as an ingredient, I avoid it like the plague. It is a waist of money as corn is simply a filler. It isn't giving the dog the nutrition it needs. Human grade food is the only thing I will give to my dog. Best of luck.
