From what I know it's 6%. If you are able to use 100% you are literally a GOD. As you know God created us in his likeness. He just didn't allow us to use all of it. There is also one part of our brain for telepathy believe it or not. I'm not sure which part though. But it allows to use up to 10% of our brain.

That is actually a given fact. So we are probably using more than what we are required to use in our brain during an adrenaline rush.

i like chris's idea that we are only allowed to 2% of our brain cause if we use beyond it, our body might not be able to handle it. so the 98% might be use only alternately.. and oh! how about if we are having an adrenaline rush?? do u think we are using more than 2% of our brain? cause i believe a single woman can carry a refrigerator if she is on a state of adrenaline rush..

Yes! I think it would be incredible to use 50%, never mind a hundred. We would be super humans. What I would give to see that. My husband says it will happen one day. Maybe when we die or are in heaven we will get that brain too. There must be space there for a reason.

I just wish we could use what little we do use the way God intended. No one knows the real power of the human brain.

If your information is correct then there's probably a reason for why the rest of it isn't being used. Perhaps your body wouldn't be able to handle it. Maybe only 2 percent of it is being used but some of the rest are arranged in category's that are switched on and off and different parts of it might be used at different times but at the same time only using still 2% of your brain. Good question and i have no idea lol

Most of the brain is used as storage space for the vast amount of information we gather as we get older. The receiving, processing and retrieving stages of the brain don't use up all that much space. They don't retain information but a short time then they put it into the storage system.

That's astounding. It's been several years since I heard this statistic/theory but when I heard it it was 10%. Does that mean we are devolving or did someone or the other get their numbers wrong? At any rate, I think about this a lot. I think that people like Ted Bundy, who tested above the level of genius, probably used twice as much of his brain as the average human. Granted this is strictly my own personal theory based on nothing but speculation of what that other 98 or 90% could be doing, if it were being used. I think that we only use what we use because, while using more could lead to great things, it could also lead to very dangerous things... things ranging from serial killers to pyro- or telekinetics.
