Ok I really have no idea what is the English word or translation of the word puntod or nitso, please help! But I have seen on TV that there are some who painted theirs other color, not white, I a really bothered as I ma used to going to cemetery where almost everything is white or black (or in natural stone color like my grand relatives) I saw in TV that there those whose relatives resting place is painted violet, blue and one is in neon color. Really bugs me.. How about you guys? DO you like to see colored puntod? like walking on a rainbow in a cemetery? I really find it weird and funny

Blue is accepted deending on the shade. if it resembles the color of the sky then it's okay but if it's dark blue like what we have on our flag then it could be a little discusting. Green is the symbol of life and I think it is very unncesessary to paint a tombstone green. How much more if it is neon. hahaha...Maybe people paint theirs differently so it would be easy for them to find it on times when there are plenty of people in the cemetery.

first of all, i think the englis of "puntod" is headstone or graveyard. anyway, i haven't seen one with rainbow colors. it will definitely find it kind of funny if see one. there is prohibitions on the color but i prefer a simple and light (not bright) colors so it will appear more peaceful.

at least they got your attention. my uncle is the one who is painting my tatay's puntod. he is an older brother of my dad. that was a promise he gave to my dad. there was a year where he was not feeling good and let one of his son (my cousin kuya roy) painted my tatay's puntod. when my uncle Mandy (roy's dad) went there for a visit he got mad. it was not a different color. it was still white but there are other colors on it. like brown for the face of jesus, green for the crwon of thorns and red for drops of blood. i find it cool but my uncle does not like it that way.

times have changed for sure. i guess tho whatever they choose they have a good reason for doing it. the different ones catch your eye for sure & maybe that's what they wanted to do.

I also noticed that, but i guess it's ok that the grave or mausoleum are being painted in different colors. I guess it has become a trend. Some even made it in different materials from metals, plain cement, pebbles, stones, bricks and many others including glass.

I don't like to see tomb other color than black or white. I know color white is the most common color of most tomb, but I also saw other tomb that color glossy black and I find that somewhat elegant. Think only color black or white is much appropriate color than those other color. But any way that's their choice..

Looks like that even the once celebration of All Saint's day is changing now. I really would not mind them as they have their own reason for doing so. I guess we just have to accept that times are indeed changing. For as long as you still do what you have to do.

are you talking about that plaster that goes over graves? i've seen that in old southwest graves, but you're right, there really isn't a word in english-because once someone's buried, all we can do pretty much is plant flowers-we're not allowed to plaster or paint it. but yes, when it's fresh it's very pretty.

I haven't seen a puntod to stone head decorated with the colors of the rainbow... but i am the conservative type so i don't think i would ever do such a thing... for me... the black and white are the appropriate ones... and adding different hues is so out of this world..

Colored tombs! Well that could be cool! Ha!ha!ha! It's like making the cemetery a colorful placed to stay! Well, I don't mind my dear. If they want it colored with the favorite color of the departed loved ones then I find nothing wrong. It's giving the graveyard a new atmosphere!

Hi there pehpot I think the word you are looking for is head stone or grave stone. I have not seen any in England but that is not to say that they don't exist. I dare say it would be easier to find the grave you are looking for if it is coloured. I don't think the 'fashion' of it has come to England yet but think it would be that long!

Times had changed and others have their own ways of changing the tradition. others may come to accept it easily while others tend to stick with the old tradition. whatever floats their boat. I still would prefer white though

I think it is just okay, as long they just paint their own . A few hours ago, I was also watching a news on TV and they are already covering some situations in the cemetery in Metro Manila. I saw some tombs painted with pink, green and orange. Wow! That's something to look forward to this coming November 1st! Maybe, some people think that black, grey and white are quite boring this these days. Or maybe, they want to lighten up the mood in the cemetery.
