McCain's Ties To Exxon Mobil's Record Profits. We Can't Afford More Of The Same.

John McCain? More of the same. He’s voted with Bush to help the special interests, not working families. Now he wants to give MORE tax breaks to Big Oil. McCain’s tax plan would give $3.8 billion in tax cuts to the five largest American oil companies. (Center for American Progress Action Fund) Does Big Oil need tax breaks? WELL TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. TELL ME WHO JOHN MCCAIN IS REALLY WORKING FOR. ------------------------------------------ By JOHN PORRETTO HOUSTON (AP) - Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's largest publicly traded oil company, reported income Thursday that shattered its own record for the biggest profit from operations by a U.S. corporation, earning $14.83 billion in the third quarter. The Irving, Texas-based company has reported unprecedented back-to-back quarters. Exxon said net income jumped nearly 58 percent to $2.86 a share in the July-September period. That compares with $9.41 billion, or $1.70 a share, a year ago. The previous record for U.S. corporate profit was set in the last quarter, when Exxon Mobil earned $11.68 billion. Revenue rose 35 percent to $137.7 billion. On average, analysts expected the company to earn $2.39 per share in the latest quarter on revenue of $131.4 billion. Like George Bush, McCain protects Big Oil’s profits. Last year, McCain was the only Senator to miss a vote on the energy bill repealing tax subsidies for oil companies. In 2005, he voted against a temporary windfall profits tax on oil companies to fund tax credits for working families. Previously, he opposed ending tax breaks for oil companies. McCain has received $723,777 in campaign contributions from oil and gas industry PACs and employees. ------------------------------------------- We CAN’T AFFORD more of the same. Tell John McCain “NO.” Enough said. Lloyd

"More of the same" - the same rhetoric we've been hearing from the Obama campaign - they haven't been able to dig up any dirt on McCain so they just keep on with the "McCain is the same as Bush" chant.

I'm sorry if the truth hurts. It's too late for John McCain to change his spots now. Lloyd

I don't understand what more anyone needs than to hear McCain say with his own mouth that he supported Bush over 90% of the time! He was actually bragging when he said that at a GOP debate but now he's trying to pretend it isn't so. Annie

I'm so glad that I don't support him. You got me interested in volunteering on the campaign and since I'm in Ohio I figured I could make a difference. I have knocked on enough doors that my fingers could fall off.

Have you ever seen the percentages of profits, Lloyd. Most of the oil companies only get about 6% profit. That's not much. When I worked at Sears, they said they were getting 5% profit. If you had a small business that only made 6% profit, you'd probably quit doing it. Obama's tax plan will be horrible for our country. I expect that more companies will leave the country, lots will downsize, some will close up. The ones that stay will raise prices. They'll have to. (Remember, businesses are SUPPOSED to make sure their stockholders get paid.) All because Obama wants to us to be a socialist country. But don't worry. He'll just start taxing people who only make $50,000 and then give the money to people paying no taxes. The programs will still be there.

If you want a country with opportunities (not programs and entitlements) for everyone, then McCain is the man for the job.
