Has anyone on here just had a baby? If so, what would you like as a gift?

I find that the best gifts are useful gifts. Frilly things are nice and cute but not always practical. I always appreciated diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles and that kind of thing. I buy the same things for the people I know that have babies. I give a gift bag with an outfit, socks, bibs, a package of wipes, a package of diapers, and a baby toy. Everyone always appreciates the gifts as they are all very useful.

Oh, I also put diaper rash ointment in there. I give them the kind I'm using cause I know it works.

The gift bag is something similar to what I got at one of my showers. It was a diaper bag filled with lotion, butt cream, wipes, powder, shampoo, some little baby rags, socks, onsies, bottles, formulas, different types of pacis, some cloth diapers (we call them doo dads at our house) and a cute pair of slip on tennis shoes. It had a lot of things in it which is always good. We also got a lot of clothes for our DD, but sad to say, not many of them have been worn as of yet. If you want to get the new parents clothes, get clothes that are 6 mos old or older. Newborn clothes aren't worn very long and considering how many sets of clothes I got, a lot of people wasted their money on something DD can't wear anymore, or wore once and outgrew. They'll grow into the bigger onsies and the bigger outfits. Plus by that time, the new parents might not have a lot of clothes for their older baby.

I did not recently have a baby (my youngest is almost 3), but as a mom of 6 boys, I know that diapers are always much appreciated! If the mom will be bottle feeding they would also love formula as these things are always very expensive to buy.

Six boys. Your hands are full. I have four girls. I found diapers the best presents.

I don't have a baby but I really want to take part in this discussion because I like babies very much. To me if I have a baby I would like to have a baby bed so that she could sleep in it peacefully. I also like a cradle so that when she grows older a little bit, I can cradle her to sleep. Usually babies between the age of 1-5 is naughty and they don't like sleeping during the day. It is very hard to persuade them to sleep. By having a cradle it will make my job easy because I just put her into the cradle and rock her until she sleeps. I prefer the electric cradle, because it is not tiring since it operates automatically. I also like babies personal care as a gift. Examples are like shampoo, lotion, baby oil, soap and body talc. I also would like diapers. Lol. I am not a rich person, so I guess if I can get all the basic things for free, I would ask for it.

My DD is 5 months old. I had 3 showers and got just about everything I wanted. DH's parents (the in laws) bought us the car seat for her and the stroller so I could jog and push her around at the same time. The best gift I got was diapers and wipes. A new mom or dad can never have too many diapers. My last shower was about 7 months ago, and I'm just now running out of diapers. It seemed like everyone who came to my shower brought a package of Pampers for us to use. That right there has been a blessing in disguise for any parent.

I have not recently had a baby, but I would think that a nice gift would be diapers, bottles, onesies, etc. Basically, all of the stuff that you need. I usually get a couple of sizes of diapers and then some wipes and bottles with a bottle brush and make a nice gift out of it. You could even make a gift basket if you wanted to out of those items.

There is this really cute coat like thing. It covers the baby completely and has a little hole where the seatbelt goes into so I can strap the baby in without taking the coat or anything off. I also think diapers are a good gift idea. The price of them are so expensive. My sister in law just had a baby and these are what I wanted to get her.

Hi there, just go to the baby shop and find the toys which suit for the gae of baby or buy a set of clothes or stuff that the baby needed. Happy posting.

My daughter has just had a baby. He is nine weeks old. I heard her saying the other day that she wishes she had got more diapers from people as shes run low and now has to buy them. I do not know if this would be a nice gift or not but maybe a gift voucher would be appreciated, then you could just go and buy the things you need or did not get as a present. Well good luck. Hope you get sorted out with this.
