Have you seen the ad run by Senator Elizabeth Dole against her opponent Kay Hagan? In this ad listeners hear a voice that is meant to be taken for Hagen's saying "There is no God." You can view the ad here: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/55053.html Even Ed Rollins, a longtime GOP political adviser, told CNN: "They did something desperate, which is so despicable and so un-like Elizabeth Dole that she should be ashamed of herself. " Dole is facing a surprising challenge in her bid for reelection from Hagan., a former Sunday School teacher who is planning on suing for defamation of character. Any thoughts? I'd like to hear from anyone but I'd really LOVE to hear from any of you who are from North Carolina. Annie

I'm not that familiar with Elizabeth Dole, more with Bob Dole who was our senator. Of course everyone remembers the jokes made about him when he ran for president, which in all honesty he probably did not deserve. Not saying he was perfect, but he did have his good points like being an advocate for the disabled. So I kind of gotta like him.

I'm a Democrat as you know but I also have always liked Bob Dole as a person. I may not have always agree with him on the issues but I've always respected him and I thought after his Presidential campaign, when he did those commercials and when he appeared with Clinton regarding the War Memorial (I think that was it!) he seemed much more relaxed and witty. I'm really surprised that Elizabeth would do this, to be honest. Again, I may not agree with her politics but I never disliked her or thought she was a bad person or the type to resort to "dirty" politics. Annie

Something about a Republican on the verge of losing his or her political power brings out the worst. The worst in those who about to lose because they just cannot bring themselves to believe its actually happening. The false consciousness that once exuded confidence has come to the stark reality that their loss is the penalty they must pay for the last eight years of presidential mismanagement. Losing power at the presidential level right on down to state legislators is the wave that is taking American voters to the polls with a message: We won't be fooled again! There is plenty of blame that should be leveled at the republicans for selling a lemon to the American public not once but twice and one can feel the anger most everywhere. In the most interesting barometer of which way the political winds are blowing conservative talk show hosts have reached into the slimiest gutter unprecedented even in their fear baiting world to referring to Barack Obama as not only a socialist but now he has arrived as a full-fledged Marxist. At this amazing speed by tomorrow Obama should no doubt be the first communist ever to run for the highest office in the land. From John McCain down to Elizabeth Dole, they ought to be ashamed of themselves. If the Republicans had just listened to me when I begged them to just discuss the issues facing the American people, they would not have had to go in the gutter. Shame, shame, shame. Lloyd

Thank you so very much for this special best response. The Republicans had ample opportunity to discuss the issues really facing the American people, but they chose to go in another direction. The American people 'did that and done that' before and weren't about to be fooled again. They chose hope, change and intellect over lies, smears and gloom. The sad part is that those opposed to Barack Obama still haven't learned anything from Barack Obama's crushing victory on November 4th. I still read stories about Barack Obama's birth certificate. I still hear Shawn Hannity and Glen Beck talk about William Ayers. I still hear talk about Barack Obama being a socialist, communist and markist. They just don't get it. After 8 years of a failed economic and military policy that has gotten the American people to the point we are today, the American people wanted 'change' and they made it loud and clear. Lloyd
