I also have a pen drive, but it's just 128MB. I bought it several years ago. I think 256MB was still the largest pen drive capacity available before. If I recall it correctly, it was called thumb drive when it first came out. At least that's what I read from PC World magazine. I am planning to buy a 4GB or 8GB this time.

Yes, this is the case. Now a days no Floppy drives are comming with new PC's. So, pen drives are the only alternative to this(transfering data from one pc to antoher) unless your system is connected to a network

Pen drives is a convenient gadget to transfer chunks of data from one computer to another. I use it on a daily basis to work on my website development on any PC that I can connect my pen drive with.

I got my first flashdrive in 2004 (512 MB Fuji), and have never been without one since. Today I have six flashdrives, as well as a Western Digital Passport (160 GB). I have two PNY Attache 1 GB flashdrives with U3 (uninstalled on one), an off-brand 1 GB flashdrive, a 2 GB Kingston DataTraveler, a 4 GB PNY mini Attache, and an 8 GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro (U3 uninstalled). I also have a USB floppy drive and DVD burner. Floppy disks may be largely outdated, but I'm not the average user. I'm a tech; I still use them regularly.

I bought one during 2006 and it is still working. Ped drive, flash disk, usb disk or whatever else they call it is a need nowadays. Since diskette is almost obsolete. We also need bigger space for our secondary computer storages and we really need flash drives. Flash drives are really good for transferring files.

Yes I do have a pen drive which is working fine now. It is about 512mb. I bought it for 1100 before 2 yrs. see now!! 512 has almost vanished. There is no wonder if it comes like a CD or DVD in future. I hope we can buy 1gb pen drive for Rs100 next year.
