I don't see who I expect to see when I look in the mirror. DO you? I expect to see someone with a much thinner face, mostly, and big doe eyes. I see someone else. I see someone who wieghs about 40 lbs more than I expect for her to. I know it is not realistic, but I have this skewed expectation of seeing myself when I was much younger, like 20 or 25, but not this. I hate looking at recent photos of me, too. ANyone else there with me?

I'm only 23, but I am very interested in your discussion topic. I do see someone different when I look in the mirror these days as opposed to when I look back 5 years ago or so. Not only do I look different appearance wise, but I am a different person personality wise too. Appearance wise, yes, I've gained a few pounds, maybe 10 or so. I had a flat stomach before I got pregnant with my son, and now carry just a little bit a baby fat. But I've been learning to live with that. I'm beginning to face the fact that I may never go out in public in a bikini again. But most of all, I've changed my attitude and personality. I've grown up tremendously in the past 5 years, it's almost unbelievable. People always think I'm several years older than what I really am, and always look shocked when they learn I am only 23. I often feel older than 23, and feel older than some of my friends when I am around them, even though we're the same age, or close to it. The bottom line is, be yourself and be happy with who that is.

there are many many people that feel the same way! It is hard to picture yourself as "beautiful" but you ARE. I use to feel the same way about myself...but then I took a step back, and started loving myself for "who i am". Its part of life really, everyone gets older and ages, everyone has things about their body or themselves that they wish they could fix. I started excersing to make myself feel better, I started reading more books to make myself feel better mentally,I started eating healthier to feel better physically. But, it all starts with YOU fixing yourself from the inside, and being happy with who YOU truly are. and if it REALLY bothers you.... a good thing might be to talk to a specialist, who can help you and make you feel alot better about things. Good Luck! **BIG HUGS** XXXXXX

Because I am uncomfortable with myself, I actually avoid looking in the mirror. WHen I do look into a mirror, I am disgusted by what I see. My husband says it is all in my head, but even his compliments do not help.
