Does anybody remember their past life?

I don't exactly believe in a "past life," but I am sensible enough to keep an open mind about it. Of course, I have read a lot of books on "reincarnation," but I have long given up taking books seriously.
Now, I have come across different types of "past life" beliefs, as I would put it.
1. The Hindu version: According to Hindus, you live life A, and depending on the karma of your life A, that is, depending on how good or bad you were in life A, you will get a body in life B. Let me try to explain this with an example. If you were very "good" in life A, you might be born as a very rich, high class MAN in life B. This means, if you are "bad" or if you are a "sinner," you will be born as a woman or a "low class" person. If you were "very bad," you will be born as an animal or a non living thing.
Now, I have my own problems accepting this "belief." As a pet owner, I refuse to believe that any of my cats and dogs were "sinners" in their past life. All of them are much much better than any human being I know. And I am a woman, so I refuse to believe that I was born as a woman simply because I "sinned" in my past life.
2. The Western version: The Western version of reincarnation is something different. As far as I understand, Western writers believe that reincarnation is more a matter of choice than "paying off bad Karma." You choose your life to "learn some lessons" or "to experience the fullness of life."
Now, this is a bit difficult to "buy" too. What on earth do we have to learn? And why must we come on earth to learn? And how much of chance do we get to experience the "fullness of life." We are bound in the chains of society, religion, law, and a dozen other forces. We are not really free. This being the case, why are we so stupid as to choose to be born here? And that too, again and again?
There is yet another big problem to reincarnation. Nobody remembers their past life!! Yes, I have heard of reincarnation therapy. But, if there is something like a past life, why don't I remember it like I remember yesterday? That would make life much easier. I can also easily avoid the mistakes I made in my "past life" and live a better "present life."
So, what do you think? Do you remember your past life? I don't!

Hi positiveminded,
Everyone has a different opinion of this, there is nothing wrong with being a women and I don't like the hindus thinking that women are sinners because lets face if its weren't for women they wouldn't have been born and no human can be reincarnated to being a animal because aaninmals are perfect and no humans are, but I do believe in it as I was regressed and I had two past lives.

I rather like the concept of a past life and I have certainly experienced deja vu sensations when visiting places that I've not been to before. However, if life is a journey to God, why keep returning to this plane? As for being reincarnated as an animal or woman. If a woman was "good" does that mean she comes back as a man? and is it a perpetual cycle between lives A and B? I have no religious leanings especially other than I have been brought up a Christian but I no longer practice. I prefer to think that we move on up closer to God and that where we are now is a kind of kindergarten preliminary to moving on to school. Can't be crazier than any of the other concepts of what life is all about.

I don't have any recollection of a past life personally, and I don't really believe there is such a thing. Certainly the idea of coming back as a 'lesser' being if you don't behave yourself is rubbbish. Who is to say that life is not better as a poor person, or even as an animal anyway?

I keep an open mind about living a past life. Just because I can't remember mine doesn't mean I didn't have one. Although, in the back of my mind I believe it is very well possible that I have lived another life before. Maybe it's my conscience telling me so.
I think there are many people who have lived another life & in some way it has a connection to the life they are currently living.

At the time I was a young teen I believed in reincarnation, and karma, based on a book I had read. I was pretty convinced, and among other things, it would say things like person A is suffering from a chronic illness that makes them feel like they are choking, and that is because in a previous life person A murdered someone by choking them. One day it came to me how contradictory this was. This guru claimed to be a Christian, sort of, but a Bible verse I learned as a younger child came to me and stayed."It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that the judgement." and since I personally believe the Bible, I gave up thinking that reincarnation was true.

It is said/ written that it is all decided before we are born here on earth.To which parents,if we have some sort of dissability,weither we are bad tempered or mild mannered ,rich or poor and how and what we learn and become is what matters.What ever we need to learn ,if the lesson can be better learned as either male or female then that is the gender we go with .Once we are here we do not retain this information as it would interfer with the journey we decieded on. We keep doing this until I guess we have perfected it and will not need to return to this life as all lessons have been learned.I am trying to think how old I was when for a few years I could wear nothing tight or high near my throat area twentys there abouts but now it does not bother me at all,it was the same with water over my face ,when swimming or even in the shower I was frighened of water over my face again this does not bother me now,so maybe I was strangled or hung in one of my last lives or drowned at sea as I love the ocean but it scares me as well who knows .But no I don't remember my past life and hope I have not made to many of the same mistakes I made then but I think I created some new ones ,so I guess I'll be back a few more times yet.lol. cheers

what i have done in from my childhood days to college days i have enjoyed a lot in
my life in the past years.I have enjoyed with my home frnds,scholfrnds, college
frnds,etc we were good and a understanding frnds.
The past life is like a sweet memories and never forgetable life ever.
In past i have faced a problems later i have succeed in life from the past years.
I will never forget my sweet memories for ever and ever,i will rememberable
every moment of my life from past years.
