Curious question: since I am Catholic and voted for Obama..am wondering if there are any other catholics have done so as well.. I have been raked over the coals. and condemn to the Eternal Fires by my younger sister and I am sure more to come from others in my family I have to confess I find it hard to make my decision based on one issue..There are so many more issues involved in choosing to vote. ANyone comment on this?

I'm not Catholic, I'm not a single issue voter either. However, I do find it difficult to understand how someone who is Catholic can openly defy the Pope and still say they support him. What does it mean to you to support the Pope?

By the way ..check your paypal I have not defied the Pope..No matter what candidate I could have chosen ALL of them support abortions under certain conditions..Before you point your finger..study the beliefs of the other competitors. I have not heard the pope say "Don't vote for Obama" Good luck to you with your issues.!

I got it, thank you. Not accusing you of anything. I was just asking your opinion of what it means to support the Pope.

The pope has not come out and said to vote on one issue only ..he would never say to determine an election on one issue..To overlook the unjust war in IRAq..and many other issues would make it a one side issue

I am not Catholic, but voted for Obama. There were several Catholics that I know supported Obama. I was undecided until two weeks ago when McCain had to chide members of his audience because of their shouted remarks that was disrespectful of another candidate. At that point I could not support a political candidate or party that spewed such hatred (while professing their Christianity), as so dishonored our electorial process by slinging mud, using scare tactics, and spreading falsehoods. I also found it hard to make a decision based on one issue. I agreed and disagreed on issures with both McCain and Obama. But I found that I agreed slightly more with Obama than McCain.

Well you know I found lots on both sides that could use polishing but I agree with you: Obama really had more restraint when it came to putting down the other..I am so hurt by those using the abortion issue..without really acknowledging their candidate as well believes in abortion under certain conditions.. I am a Catholic but am under fire from some who feel they know everything about the candidates.

I know how you feel. Several of my friends and coworkers have been after me for planning to vote for Obama. That's why I am glad it's all over with. But, you cannot legislate morality. Racism, abortion, etc. may not be right, but allowing laws banning them does not make them magically disappear. Besides, some of the worst, atrocious events of human history have been due to religion: the Inquistion, the Crusades, the Holocaust, etc. Government needs to stay out of the home and churches, and churches need to stay out of government.

As a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ I can not support anyone who is for the murder of unborn babies. Murder is murder and you can't change that. How can believer support murder, it makes no sense.

Murdering in unjust war is murder..murder is murder..The Iraqui people who are mamed ..children without parents in Iraq..Iraq is one big murder mission..no reason at all for it.. Murder is wrong.. yet we inject criminals to end their life Murder is wrong Murder is wrong..yet McCain says it's alright to have abortions if there is rape..and Palin ..if the mother's life is in danger. Murder is murder. They all allow for abortion: murder is murder!

I was raised Catholic but, I do not go to mass anymore and I voted for Obama. A lot of my family still go to mass and are Catholics, voted Obama. We have learned over the years that voting on one stance is not the way to vote. Look at this Bush, pro-life not good president lol

I agree with you: I must confess I cast a vote for George Bush..but only because I didn't now enough about the opposition.. I have so many mass-going friends..I still go..who went out their way to put flyers and offer to give a list of warnings of what would happen if Obama won Regarding pro-life: every one of them allows abortions in certain circumstances.. I have not had anyone come back to me ..when I used this fact as a rebuttal; because it's true. All of them ..even Sarah Palin ..believes there is some exception for the use of abortion.. The gloat that is all about the degree of wrongness..but as someone posted before: Murder is murder.
