designer bags or whatever bags?

Hey, do you like designer bags or whatever bags? I'm kind of like in the middle. I own one designer bag - Marc Jacobs but only because it went on sale on Zappos website. Only that one time and never again. I collect good quality leather bags by Juicy Couture and Kenneth Cole and some casual and practical bags by Lucky Brand, Guess and Victoria's Secret but never did it cross my mind to collect big time designer bags. I don't know...they're all of real good quality though -- Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel...but aside from being sooo expensive I really don't think I am up to put myself on that level. I have a friend who has a Louis Vuitton bag but she complains a lot about how expensive things are...can not afford this and cannot afford that. I'm like how can you afford to buy a Louis Vuitton bag? No, no...i didn't say that to her;). People buy famous designer bags for the obvious reason that they can afford them but I think some people buy these bags only because they see them being carried by famous celebrities. What do you think?

Hey Gicolet, This is a hard topic to respond to. I have a couple coach bags, a wallet a keychain,a small wrist bag, and 1 LV bag, but i didn't purchase any of them with my own money they're all gifts that i have gotten from either family members or friends !so as far as if it's important for me to have the designer bags i would have to say i dont know if i would kill to have one. I felt that i always wanted designer bags before i got one, but now that i have a few it doesnt really matter much to me, i dont know if i'll ever buy a whatever bag anymore either because all of my bags have life time warrenty so i dont really need to purchase a million pages, you know? cause if anything happens to the ones that i have i'll just exchange them and get new ones for free. i agree with you that people purchase designer bags because they see that celebrities are carrying them and they think that they'll be fashionable and rich looking like them, come on why spend all of that money when you're really not rich! i also hate how people who act rich and carry all these bags talk crap about other people who carry the knock offs! okay so they act rich but always complain about not having any money...lol... back to topic i dont think it matters if you carry something real or fake just as long as you can afford it and feel good about purchasing it and you feel good carrying it around with you. i hope this answers your question! :)

I know! OMG like why do you want to copy celebrities while you're just wearing cheap flip flops with your LV bag? lol Thanks for your comment...what you said is sooo true.

I've own some designer bags - LV, Gucci, Coach but only because of the design, which is very classic, and can be used for any occasions. I, myself, am not always have to carry expensive bags. I have mixed prices of bags. My cheapest is only like $5 lol. I think that some people are too materialistic. They carry brand names just because they wanna get accepted from everyone.

I have a problem with the classic designs of the designer bags you've mentioned and I think even if I could afford to buy them I still wouldn't do so. A lot of women like those bags especially the ones with the LV, G, and C logo printed on them. I just don't like them I guess. I've had 2 Coach bags before (gifts) and I ended up selling them online. They seem to all look the same to me. I prefer other leather bags with more designs to choose from which do not have to show off their signature logo. Anyways, your cheapest bag is $5? lol I just got a tote bag yesterday for $3.50 cause I had a $10 coupon. The original price was $45 and it was on sale. It's a pretty tote though...looks like real leather. Even my 11 yr old daughter liked it.

Well, most of the bags I own don't have a signature printed on them. I don't like them either. Kudos for $3.50 bag LOL. Next time, I will look for a bag cheaper than $3.50 :-)

I love designer bags. I have a louis vuitton , but I usually do not use it. It was one of those kind of things where I just had to have it and now that I have it I never use it. I was thinking of selling it even. I sold my Dooney and Bourke a couple of weeks ago.

i think it doesnt matter if it's a designer bag or not, if it suits your taste and has good quality. there are many bags out there who are cheaper than say gucci or chanel, that's because they dont dispose of high-level brand names, but are still worthy of buying

That's true. I'm in for good quality bags regardless of the designer.

Once I'm crazy about those famous bags, esp when I was in university. But at that time,as a student,I haven't enough money to buy those bags. It's not a bad thing for me.I love the designs, but mostly cuz the famous brand. And I once love some vanas or linen bags.I loved so many multifarious bags. Now,I guess it's not important whether it's a famous brand, the most important is you like the design and that's really fits you.

True. I am very particular about the design of handbags. No matter how famous a brand is and how cheap it got on sale I don't buy it if I don't like its design.
