Would you go through lasik or would you rather wear your glasses forever?

My husband had lasik about 7 yrs ago. He said it was the best thing he ever did. About 3 yrs after that he started having a hard time reading newspapers and restaurant menu so he bought some of those cheap reading glasses from Barnes & Noble. The eye doc said it's cause he's over 40 and it's just normal. It's like nature against technology I guess.

I know my husband considered having Lasik done a few years ago, but he wanted to make sure it was a very common procedure as he said he did not want an experimental surgery, especially on his eyeballs. Now, he watched something on television that totally explained at goes on during those surgeries. He will not even consider it any more. And then on top of all the expense and pain of that surgery you are left needing to use reading glasses anyways. He just decided to keep his contacts or his glasses. I am glad he decided that too. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

Yeah...I think he's better off with his glasses and contacts. I prefer wearing my glasses too. The only thing I don't like about my glasses is whenever i have to clean it up. I used to wear contacts years ago but my eyes got irritated by it so I stopped wearing them. I really don't see the point of having Lasik surgery and then be advised to wear reading glasses after 40.

I would never have Lasik surgery done. I don't want something cutting into my eyeball. I will just stay with my glasses.

Hi there Gicolet! I will still prefer Lasik. If having great eyesight without the aid of eyeglasses will last for at least seven years.

Yeah...but wearing reading glasses after 40 is a pain in the butt. My husband has 4 reading glasses - at the bathtub, his car, his office, and on the coffee table. He keeps them everywhere cause if he only bought one reading eyeglass and forgot where he put it, he won't be able to find it. That's how bad his eyes are. lol

I will stay with my glasses, I love wearing them and have no interest in getting LASIK. I have had friends who went through with the surgery and regret doing so now because it either didn't get them free of their glasses or left them worse off than before the surgery. It just isn't worth the risk.
