cows milk, is it safe for a 10 month old?

My son is nearly 10 months old and does not drink alot of his formula he has suddenely gone of it. He drinks less than 9 oz a day. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to try him on cows milk as he does not eat alot of baby food either and is very skinny i would like him to put on some weight however, my friend has a son the same age as my son and she put her son on cows milk at eight months and her baby is very very big! he is bigger than a one year old. I do not want to make my son put on loads of weight or make him ill and upset his digestion but am worried he is not having enough food or milk. Please post your opinions or any suggestions you have that would help me to help my son. Thank you.

My son started cows milk at 11 months and he has been perfectly fine on it. He did not get obese or have any kind of medical problems. Alot of doctors and people in general have different ideas on the situation but talk to a few doctors and see what they sat I know ai spoke to about three befor making that decision for myself.

Most doctors say a child should stay on formula until they are 1 year old. However both of my kids were on cows milk at 10 months old. They both took to it fine. If you do decide to switch, don't go straight to cows milk. Mix the milk and the formula for a few days to see if his tummy handles it ok. Milk won't make a baby fat. Your friends baby is probably just eating a lot of table food too. Some babys are just naturally chubby too.
