If so why do you still smoke? I can't understand that, I know it is hard to quit but if I was a Cancer Survior, I would quit. I have a Friend and a Cousin that got Treatments but still smoke. I guess they can't quit. I know this is a touchy question. But I can't figure this out. I quit 30 yrs. ago. Just tell me why do you do it? Some people never smoke and still get Cancer. So why do you do it? I guess a lot of people say oh well we got to die from something. But I say don't kept contribiting to it? Give me your views about this. I know when you quit you gain a lot of weight well I did and my Sister did too!

I quit almost two years ago, I am so glad I did too. I gained alot of weight too, and at my ag its hard to get back off. I am trying though, but darn it, food is so good. I don't eat like a pig neither, I also do my best to eat healthy and not eat a bunch of junk food.

Hey there Polly1 Well done. I think the main reason we all put on weight after giving up smoking is that we can now really taste food which you can't really do when you smoke, it really messes up your taste buds!!

Hi there marciascott I too gave up smoking, it was about 12 years ago now but thankfully I have never had a cancer scare. I am with you on this, I really don't get it either.

Hey there Humbug25 Thanks. Smelling is what amazes me still. The smell of smoke is nauseating and to think thats how I smelled, yuck. Thats enough to not want to ever smoke again.

I had precancer on my uterus. They removed it back in 1995 and I had a hysterectomy. I smoke but if my health was deteriorating, I would quit.

I'm not, thank God! But my mom and dad are. My mom survived Cancer of the uterus and my dad survived cancer of the colon. It were both very trying times for the family.I was only 8 when my mom got Cancer. She did not have to undergo chemotherapy because they got it all from the operation. With my dad, it was also hard because he underwent chemotherapy for 6 months and he is the type of person who is scared of hospitals and doctors. he had this about 5 - 6 years ago. Luckily he survived!

The only reason why I can think of for this is because people think that nothing can happen to them. Not everyone who smokes gets cancer. When you are addicted to something you make up every excuse in the book to keep doing it. Even when all the signs tell you to stop. My grandmother just had surgery for cancer so I have no sympathy for people who continue to slowly kill themselves by smoking.
