China

I am a Chinese, live in China. I am a Muslim, but I respect all other religions. China is not a religion country, so most Chinese have no religions, but I think that it is necessary that a person have a religion in his or her life. What do you think about that, what do you think about religion?

Religion is a guiding path, where it shows us how to live a life that is clean and pure, with no h atered for the others, no matter which religion that person belongs to. I feel it a must for all to have religon as a guiding hand. It helps us to segregate the right from the wrong, to do what we should, and not otherwise. I really wonder how the Chinese manage to live without a religon to follow. Good discussion. keep it up.

I can't agree with you more, you are right, maybe the religions are necessary, and in fact most Chinese just spend their life in a lot of meaningless things in order to find a meaning to their life, in the end a lot of people just think they should eat well, dress well, live well in their life.

yeah, it is necessary to have religion because it's the basis of our faith to God. I just can't imagine people without religion. Religion is very important to make our spiritual aspect grow and develop like knowing the truth, who is really, why life exist on this world and everything. Men is not merely a physical being. On the contrary, man has a strong moral aspect to his existence. Men is not likely to live a life, which coherent with a moral aspect of his existence without religion.. And our country most people belong to a certain religion

I know plenty of very moral atheists, and plenty of immoral religious people. religion has no bearing at all on morality.

There are many people, perhaps most, who think that the world would be just fine, maybe even better, without religion. They blame religion for most of the wars and to some extent they're probably right. However, there is a moral law that had to have come from God. Without a moral law, who would have put a stop to Torquemada (the great inquisitor), the slave trade, Hitler, Stalin, radical Muslims and other radical religious groups? There has definitely been some evil that has come from religious groups, but I believe the good from religion far outweighs the bad. Religion restrains us from becoming too self centered. It's through the teachings from most religions that we see the need to protect those who are weaker than we are. Otherwise we'd be like Darwin's theory - survival of the fittest. Try living in a world without any moral law. I believe you wouldn't last too long.

Personally, I don't think that it's religion that matters but a relationship with God (if you believe in God, that is). Religion is basically man's attempt to reach out to God, and understandably, it frustrates a lot of people because man could never set the terms for establishing a relationship with God as they are not equals. I am a Christian, and Biblical Christianity's focus has always been on man's relationship with God and not on a system of ritual and dogma. And the best thing about it is that it was God Himself who initiated the relationship by sending His Son Jesus Christ into the world to die for our sins, because it is our sins that separate us from a Holy God. These are my personal beliefs of course, and it is up to you if you'd want to listen.

there is no need of religion in a human life, but for a community of people to leave peacefully together in a place they must hav a group of principles to be follow inorder to lead a peaceful life, for that we must need religions. the famous philosopher democretus said once that "if the religion is removed frm a community wht remain is brutism" this was a view of a person who lived in 250 bc but yet applicable in the community Regards Shiv ram

I don't think it's necessary at all. I am religious myself, but don't feel that those that aren't are lacking something in their life. my religion is important to me. if religion is important to someone, then they'll have one. those that don't, they obviously don't beleive in any religion, so why would they need to seek one out. they don't have that in them. neither way is better or more right, because we're all individuals, and we're all finding our own ways in the world. my religion doesn't treat beleivers and non-beleivers (I hate that term, but can't really think of another one to use in this context) exactly the same. so there's no harm in someone being an atheist or in having a different religion, as it all turns out the same, either way. so people should beleive in what enhances their lives. and if it doesn't enhance their life, there's no reason for them to follow it.

I Believe, the soul purpose of religions are to make people lead a righteous life. if a person is able to lead a proper life without any religions, it is worth it. it is not necessary to go to a temple, church, or a mosque. it is all inside one's heart.

I agree with you that people should have a religion as most people seem to walk around like lost sheep. Religion can help build your life as most religions are very positive and there to help the individual. I study a number of religions and Buddhism is one of them. I love there meditations. If more people had some sort of religion or faith and even as just having faith in themselves they would have a more positive outlook on life and why we as humans have been put on this planet. This is what God's plan is for us to not just be here but to make a better life for all of us through his love. Crocket.

Hi there, I think that living where you live is a great thing, especially from a religious point of view. My last psychedelic trip has showed me visions of Tibet, and now I am looking to get myself a Singing Bowl, like Buddhist monks use in meditation. I'm sure it's very easy to get such things in China, but if I want them here it will be a bit harder :D I think it's a pity that Chinese people are largely without religion, you have some great traditions and it would be very good to study and practice them, and keep them intact for future generations. As long as religion is a force of peace and understanding, of charity, it is always a good thing. People have much to gain from it. Peace :D

Maybe it's necessary to have a religion.for me,i'm religious.i believe god make all things.when i have problems that i can't solve,i often turn to him for help, for example, make my blundering heart calm down, lead me the road forwads,so i like to read Bible when i'm too sad and when i'm too happy, from it i learn to be positive, considerable, grateful, and so on.

Hi. I respect All religions and those who don't have a religion. Actually there is no one who does not have a religion.Everyone beleives in something. So in that aspect everyone has got a religion. And when it comes in the discussion of not accepting any religion and living upto our own beleifs (without a mentor) is, i think , not fair.Sorry to tell that, and let me tell u why: If u decide not to accept any religion how can u know that which is good or which is evil? You will tell that I will do only good things, but who will tell you that which is good and which is bad? Good or Bad is not constant in this world. It changes to person to person. It changes to country to country. Then how do u know that what are you doing is good or bad?For example in America Homosexual marriage is legal but it is illegal in my country(India). Then how can I conclude? I have an answer to these problems.Thats why I beleive in a religion. Anyway I expect more comments and opinions. Then we can discuss it deepily. And thank you very much neulicuang for starting this discussion.

I'm filipino. Yes I think everyone has to have a religion. Because it gives them the sense that over and above them there is a higher being, there is a higher purpose to everything. But I guess much more than having a religion wherein we try to find out for ourselves the meaning of life or the purpose of it, I think a real relationship with God would be much better. Having a relationship with Him means really being closer and living a life that would bring honor to Him rather than just us getting and recieving from him.

I don't feel that we need religion to function as humans or as a race. It seems that people who take their religion too seriously create hate and prejuidice more than the color of our skin. Just look at what is happening in the middle east, or even in history when Christians were killed by the Romans, just because of their religion - or even the Jewish people in Nazi Germany. If we are raised with good moral values - you don't kill people, don't steal, be good to your fellow man, etc., that is what makes us good people. Unfortunately, my experience is when someone has to introduce themselves as "Hi my name is John and I'm a Christian", it's because they're not of good moral values and have to remind themselves to behave. Usually that person has become a Christian in order to "turn their lives around", stay out of jail, etc. And worse is when they say their a Christian and continue to do bad, because in their minds it's ok, because they are "forgiven". Oh, the stories I could tell, just based on this one experience!

It depends on the individual, some people find they need and like having a religion to help them through difficult times, my best friend is christian and also she isn't a typical christian which i have discussed with her but she says she likes having a belief in something. I personally believe in God but i don't asign myself to a religion because i think if you do you should be devout and i still yet have to find a religion where i agree in the same beliefs.

No, I don't think that it's necessary to have a set "religion" in your life, and I also think it's right and completely normal to challenge your own beliefs and change them, over time. I was raised a Christian, and no longer actively practice that religion as the church defines practicing. I think that the only thing that's important is that you're okay with what you believe. Nothing else matters.

i do not follow a religon so i dont think it is a nessecity, but i find the stories relating to religon fascinating. i do believe it is essential that we all believe in something even if it is ourselves or our family and not a religon. i believe there is something more out there though, i just done know what it is. i think this because all religons are similar in they just tell stories of creation etc in a different way. happy mylotting

Firstly, human beings must believe in their Creator. When they do that, then they should believe in all the Messengers that were Selected and sent down to Earth by the Almighty. (They should believe and have full trust in these Messengers because they preached the same thing that their predecessor had preached.) If they can do this, then belief in a particular religion is an individual's choice.

I'm an christian since i'm in primary school, But my family are moslem. 6 month a go i'm confused to choose my religion even i don't go to church for long time, but i can't be a moslem too. So i feel not has an religion for 6 month. But now, i decide to choose christian as my religion, because it so hard to leave our believe, i feel empty in my soul. But for them that doesn't have religion, they can't feel as same as we that has an religion. So let them know about religion from any media, It's our responsibility now, to bring them our true way.
