My star is an 8 this morning?

I have not changed anything the 6mths I have been on mylot as far as the quality or quantity. If anything I have gotten better and now this morning I have an 8 for the first time. Do you think people get jealous and just mark you negative? Do you think that they get mad when you deny them as a friend? Or do people really give you the correct rating?

I think that it is nothing more than a popularity contest with the rating system. I dared to speak my mind about an opinion that I have that is different from somebody else's, and he or she has been rating me down and getting my perfectly legitimate posts deleted ever since then. I just don't care because I get my earnings no matter what. :)

Thanks! :) It's true! ;) Your ratings are based on whether people like your Discussions/responses/comments/etc. and so on. You will not get a Star until you have reached 100 posts. And then the rating starts!

Am sorry to hear your star has decreased. Don't think it's worth worrying too much about though as there is very little you as a user can do apart from keep responding to the best of your ability to every discussion. You do have a point though some users may mark you negatively if you don't accept them or perhaps if they share an opposite opinion to the one your portraying perhaps this makes them angry...but if this IS the case I don't think marking someone down for this is the right way to go about it. Afteral we are all here to discuss not make each other unhappy.

I completely agree with you. Your mylot star won't be awarded to you until you have made 100 posts however keep posting and your soon see it next to your name. When I first gained my star I was only a 6 and have worked my way up as best I can. The only way to improve your reputation is by posting detailed responses which other users can rate...therefore it's partly out of your hands. It's sad to think that people would mark a user negative if their not accepted as a friend but I suppose such people do exist. I like to think when I rate a user I am rating the response regardless of who the mylotter is.

I have great faith in human beings and I rate every discussion that comes my way without thinking I will get a favorable rating in return. Sometimes I get a best response which is really cool. Cheers!!

The system can easily be manipulated and any given day someone will play on it and you lost your star, some intentionally do it in getting back to you or whatever reason it is. There are a lot of possibilities that could happen and some of those you mentioned are far not impossible and I believe it is happening and would be the reason of your rating. Although it is not just appropriate to rate you a negative whenever you disagree with someone else yet we cannot control if they do the other thing.

they dont .it is making me mad when you give me a negative mark,it hurt me.i dont think what i respond is right,but i try my best to answer,but they give me so a negative mark.i dont change my interested in mylot,sometimes i find someone joins to my discussions ,which makes me happy.
