Wassailing (Caroling) During the Christmas Season

I was a member of a choir back in high school (that was many many years ago). My teacher in English was also in charged of the choir. So, she told us to practice as we will do some caroling to raise fund. We carried with us a letter from our teacher and showed it to the house owner before caroling. Because we were "obedient students", we did what she told us. So for many nights, we caroled from house to house and it went fine. We made a lot of money for the school. Yet, my teacher asked us to continue caroling even if it was way past the Holiday Season. I think we caroled even after the new year's celebration. So, we felt so humiliated (and at the same time angry at my teacher) when almost all the house owners we "caroled" ignored us or even told us to go home instead as the holidays are over. Oh well. Talk about slave driving the students in those days. I think it still happens now in many schools. How about you, have you joined or planning to join any of these caroling sorties during the Christmas season?

Huh? That was pretty embarrassing. Your teacher was a control freak. I never joined any caroling cause I could only sing inside the shower ;D
