My younger son and his fiance have just bought themselves an almost new house. So since yesterday was their birthday, we are going to see it, and then we will all go to a restaurant, my husband, and I, my older son, daughter-in-law, my precious granddaughter, and my younger son and his fiance. My husband is paying. So I hope to have a lovely time and hope my husband does not start with the 'you cannot eat this, you cannot eat that." because I want to enjoy yourself. So what do you do to celebrate birthdays in your family?

We did. They have a large house and it is in a nice area. Got a big kitchen and large laundry room and a guest room and family room downstairs. Oh they have two hd tvs. We went to a Thai restaurant and the food was lovely.

You know, I was the opposite of you when I was married. I wished my husband would put a limit on things. He footed the entire bill whenever we went out with friends and one friend even refused to go out with us because he was never allowed to pay the bill. Your husband is aware of your finances and is evidently a good steward of them. Count that as a blessing, even though his tactfulness can use some improvement! My ex-husband spent hundreds per week on meals, saying not to worry because "the business" was paying for it. I could never get him to understand that he was the business!! Sure, it might be embarrassing to hear your husband lay out the terms of the lunch agreement but isn't it more embarrassing to be caught short when you receive your bills? Don't sweat this--your family (yours and your husband's) know what he's like so just go with the flow and be grateful that he's thinking of providing for the two of you.

I am not a spend thrift. In fact I am careful of my money and I do not like the having to ask for his permission to buy a pair of pantyhose, or this or that. As for the going out for We have always had the one whose birthday it is not, pays, and it works out perfectly because our sons are twins. The trouble is when it is my husband's or my birthday by sons have this "who gets out the credit card first" the same as my husband had with his brothers and brother=in=law when we were in Saskatoon during vacations. I mean some have the problem with "who gets stuck with the bill" with us it is the exact opposite.

We usually celebrate birthdays by going out to a nice restaurant for dinner.

That is what we do. I sort of do not want to cook all the time and I do love good dining. Besides our goal is to try out all the restaurants in our area and find the best ones and always go there.

If my sister is in town, we all get together, but since my bro and I don't get along that well, we don't. Next sunday I may go get mom and take her over to the main dining room to celebrate MY birthday with her.

We like eating at a restuarants. Mind you there is a method to our madness, we intend to try out all the restaurants in our area, and then go to the best one.

Hello , Growing up my parents would always throw a party at the house , or we would go out to a movie and dinner . Now when it is my bday sometimes people will come here just for cake , or i will go to my fams for cake . Each year is differnt . Going out and having a celebration is when you should enjoy yourself and eat what ya want i think

Ahh Well I hope things go great and that you have a lovely evening. Maybe your husband will behave. We usually either just have a small dinner and cake unless it is for the kids then it is bigger a party.

Well today we are having a birthday party for grand daughter and we have envited about 40 people and its surpose to be in the 70s today so it should be nice with a jacket on after the sun goes down for we want to hold it out on back patio. We most ususally celebrate partys like this at our home or my sons house that lives here. But I reall like to celebrate at our house for I am more at ease here!

Grats on their home purchase. In our family we seldom celebrate birthdays actually. Just a card, gift and a cake once in awhile is all. I did take my wife last year to a casaino overnight for her birthday. It had been years since we did anything special actually. Just the way we are and have been for a long time. Except when the kids were small I'd have abnig party for them. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like birthdays and try to make them as happy as possible. Money is tight nowadays but it does not stop us from having a great time when it is someone's birthday. Cheers!!

Congratulations to your son and his fiance! We don't celebrate birthday's on my side of the family anymore. When we did though, they were grouped together. Initially I was the only birthday person for my month. My uncle in law had a birthday sort of close to mine, but we never did celebrate it together. Then my aunt in law came in to the picture, and that's when my Birthday was grouped with someone else's. Cake, and ice cream was usually what we had. We usually celebrated birthdays on a friday, even if their birthday was the next day, or earlier that week... So we had Pizza and Chinese most of the time. Before the Pizza and Chinese tradition I am not sure, I don't really remember. Although, I assume what was made was whoever's birthday it was's, favorite food. I realize Was's isn't a word. In any case, my fiance family celebrates their birthday quietly. I don't know how it was when he was a kid, other then a bunch of people got together, had cake and ate. Much like mine, except without the grouping. Now, as for later on he told me last year on his birthday that it's usually his mom, dad, him, and his grandparents out to eat and then whatever he wants to do. Last year we ate at Golden Corral and then went to see National Treasurer 2. We live in a small town, so there's a small church sign type billboard across from a gas station. His mom had his dad go up and have the people in charge of the sign write Happy Birthday (his name) love, mom, dad, and then me. For my birthday, I got a CD case we really needed (I asked for it), then we went to Golden Corral, and then to the movie store so we could pick out movies to watch. All in all it was fun. My family doesn't celebrate birthday's anymore, and even so last year my birthday wasn't worth celebrating as we celebrated the life of my brother who passed away a few days before my birthday.

I think your going to have a great time! My youngest son's house is, well it's just wacko! He has four roommates all boys! The smell, they say it's bacon. I say it's stinky boys! It took me one day to the dishes for them. The whole day! But I must say they are all very sweet. I think you should have for dinner what ever you want! If your husband does not like some foods he does not have to eat them! As far as my family celebrates! We party like rock stars! Enjoy the moment! Life is short live it up!
