I have this impression that writers are moody...happy now...down in a little while...ecstatic now then depressed in a little while ...weird but that's all impressions...my impression. I just feel that they have that every desire to be alone...alone with their thoughts, alone with their memories...comments ?

I'm sure some are...but in general, most writers are people you'd talk to and meet anywhere, not necessarily more mood-swingy than anyone else you'd see. I'm not a very emotional person. I love intellectualism, I like describing human emotion and I've had some emotional times (like everyone has). I have very good self-control. But I don't blow hot then cold, I am room temperature. And a nearly constant room temperature at that. Now it is true that I like to be alone and am not a social person. But this is because I'd have so much more time for meaningful things if people weren't that much of a part of my life (they aren't that much of one now). People are a constant source of trouble for me..so I more often than not, choose to avoid social events to avoid future trouble. Given the chance, I will come out of hiding and do something social -- like go to a party or some sort of holiday event. I've no problem with talking with people. But those who know me have long learned that I cannot be forced into doing anything. Whether that means staying hidden away or to go out amongst other people. I am never really alone, though, and while that's unfortunate in some instances...it doesn't bother me either.

When a writer is not working they can be sociable and enjoy the company of others, but when their mind is on their work they may appear 'moody' to people who don't understand the writer's mind. A writer will feel happy when their creativity is flowing and they are able to produce some good work. There will be other times when writing becomes more difficult and that will cause frustration, and in extreme cases, despair. I think it is important for a writer to be alone, and left undisturbed. If there are other people around it can be distracting and put the writer off their work. A writer should be able to spend hours on their own when they are working.

oh i think so, in fact, i would even broaden that to say that anyone that is pretty creative in any field is very moody and even broody sometimes. i know that i am totally that way and my hubby asks me a lot if i am ok. i totally also get lost on the project i am working on.

I know that that's true of me. I am very moody. I also prefer being alone. But, I can only speak for myself. Everybody is different, so I don't believe that all writers are this way. But, I surely am! :)
