Everyone in the England would have heard of the famous writer Catherine Cookson, but I was wondering who out of the UK has heard of this really brill writer. She has passed away now but has written so many good books. There is so much information about her and I wouldn't know where to start in even telling you a little bit about her if you haven't heard of her. So google her name and tell me what you think to her story writing etc.

I am Canadian. I have read 25 of Catherine Cookson's books and have another handful on hand to still read. I'm not much into historical fiction but I do read Cookson's - but not lately. Not finding a lot of time for reading and I have hundreds of books on hand yet to be read. Back in 1988 when I was 25 and she was 81, I wrote her a letter and she wrote me back. The letter is typed on her personal letterhead and she personally signed it. She was very pleased to have heard from me. Back in those days I wrote to a handful of authors (3 or 4); one even wrote me a handwritten response. Now with email it is a whole lot easier to write to authors and get a response. Since Ms. Cookson has passed away I will certainly treasure my letter from her.

Hi ya Anne18 I have most certainly heard of Catherine Cookson but I really and honestly couldn't name one book she has written but I bet you if you give me a title of one of her books I would say that I heard of the book but wouldn't know that Catherine Cookson had written it!
