Do All Kids Fight Getting up For School?

Every morning it's war trying to get my 2 boys up and fed and dressed and out the door. They are like zombies. They get great sleep so they can't be that tired. They act like it's the end of the world. But as soon as they come home in the afternoon, they tell me how great their day was and how much they love school. I don't get it. Anyone else go through "morning maddness" with their kids? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Oh My DO I ever! My two youngest boys 9 and 11 give me a terrible time in the mornings! It takes forever to get them up and dressed and then if I let them sit down they are back to sleep before the bus gets here! When I first go towake them its like they are in a coma almost, I have even had their teachers call me this year because they are falling asleep in class or worse on the bus and they have to wake them to get them in the classroom. ANd they get plenty of sleep also! If they are not walking around like zombies they are fighting like cats and dogs! So I feel your pain shortcake!

I can't offer any suggestions sorry. My son has not started school. My sister though she is in third grade and does that. She will lay around and wait till the last minute to get ready. I think she gets it from my mom. I don't know what I will do to get my child up and going when it comes his time, but maybe in due time I will figure it out.

My both kids have different time for schools, one in the morning and other afternoon...so no fights....the younger is 6 yrs and shows some laziness in getting up but when there is some special day at school...u wont have to tell him twice to get up....once u call and wow...wat an energy....he wont cry a bit and give u a kiss and a good morning wish too !!!....

NO, not all kids fight having to get up for school. My two are grown now... Even before they started school they seemed to wake up about an hour before anyone else in the house. I tried to keep single serving cereal and milk, fruit and other foods they could fix for themselves. This made then quite independent so when they started school most mornings they would be up and ready to go and usually were waking me up to either walk or drive them to school. Once they were old enough to walk on their own they would be up and out before I woke up. Once in a while I'd have to push, drag or otherwise motivate my son to get moving but not too often.

My son is not yet going to school, coz he is 11 monts old hahaha . But you know, when i was that age, i have my morning madness too lolz. Well everybody loves their bed and it's difficult to wake them up specially when they are dreaming lolz. Let them sleep early so they can wake up early even you never waking them up. Happy posting.
