Do you open your computer upon waking up and after coming home from work/school?

My computer has been a regular fixture in my life. Everyday, upon waking up, I usually open my laptop immediately to check emails and read news before going to the office. Upon reaching home after coming from work, the first thing I do is open my laptop and check emails again, check for incoming messages on social sites where I am a member of, read the latest news, etc. Do you do these too?

I really hate to say this but it seems like my life is governed by my computer. I have a lot of balance in my life but I spend so many hours on the computer at work and home I feel we're joined at the hip. I won't jump on the computer as soon as I get up but given some wake up time and I'll be ready for the routine of checking personal messages and (like you) checking social sites I belong to. If I'm in the mood I'll browse the news; local, national and international. Once I'm at work I'm back on the computer for a good portion of my day. Some business, some pleasure. It depends upon the sort of work load I have that day. Because I'm on the computer constantly, I don't always jump on it when I get home after work. Sometimes I will but usually I need some down time away from modern technology LOL. I am very guilty when it comes to staying up quite late. This is when I find it most relaxing to address my personal communications. I am also extremely creative in the wee hours of the morning. I guess you can call me a Computer Vampire. ‹(°¿°)›

This invisible bind that ties these two entities together is surely real, unlike that which bound the allegory of the first Adam and Eve. The computer and internet has opened up a means of communicating with people and cultures that was once out of the reach of anyone but the most experienced of explorers and wealthiest of travelers. Now we send nice messages and silly comments to our friends around the world on a more than daily basis. Rejoice with me that we now have the ability to reach out and touch one another at any time of day, at any place on Earth. Or in other words. Well sunbeams. Whenever you do jump on your computer, be assured that the world and your Adam are right at your fingertips, always. ‹(°¿°)›

Thanks for your comprehensive response jumpinjack a.k.a. Computer Vampire. I admire the fact that eventhough you and your computer are joined at the hip (which biblically reminds me of Adam and Eve haha), you manage to achieve symmetry in your daily and nocturnal activities. That's great, you don't share my addiction to the computer. Maybe I should try what you do, and go back to other pleasures that previously made me happy and whole before the advent of computer in my life. Thanks again.

So this is what a brief response from you is. I can just imagine what a normal response would be, or at most a long one. LOL. That Eve is so darn lucky to be the sole object of your attention. I have a feeling you are the source of her extreme pleasure and not just those social sites. Who knows, maybe she was just browsing over these sites to check if you left her messages or comments or, luckily if you're also online simultaneously as she is. Lately, I try not to "jump" on my computer specially on weekday mornings upon waking waking up as I have been wont to. I just do this in the evenings after coming from the office. Oh and I do agree, it's absolutely fun checking up on those whose thoughts have been of me, and how LOL Wow, I have that nice feeling I also know your from Adam. It feels like an invisible tie that binds me to you across cyberspace. :-)

I'm SAHM. My computer gives me the chance to have a little escape from household and childcare duties, and some adult talk, lol. Wouldn't be able to survive otherwise. It's also a source of revenue for me. It's on pretty much all day and a take a couple of minutes here and there to check up on emails, friends, messageboards, or work.

I normally keep my laptop on 24 hours, even when I'm sleeping. I only switch it off if I'm away from my house. I'm an IT programmer and an investor, so I need to keep myself connected with all the news as much as possible. :D

Hey thanks for your response daydreamer. Wow, you leave your laptop open 24/7! Oh well if it's your source of livelihood then you need to be connected at all times. I am just wondering, if its powered on 24 hours everyday, doesn't it overheat or something? I am not that techie but just curious.

Hmmm you keep your computer running 24/7 and earn money from it just by being online, wow. That is awesome Kumaresan. That would be a good extra income for those who would want to augment their source of livelihood. I am intrigued. Care to explain more and share your knowledge so we can learn from you and partake of the financial blessings from cyberspace. Thanks for your reply.

Well, since I have an online business, I do get online first thing in the morning; or at least when my eyes adjust lol. What I do is check my e-mails and see if there is any correspondence I need to attend to. Then I do my promoting for the morning on classified sites, traffic exchanges, forums, and safelists. Then I come back to my e-mail and check my MyLot notifications and my feed, to see if there is any discussions that are of interest, and if there are people that I can promote to, blackhat of course lol.

Thanks for your response drknlvly. Oh my, your name reminds me of a tongue twister sms without any vowels. No pun intended. LOL Oh, you are another 24/7 online businessman, at least during your wakeful moments. I never realized there are so many online entrepreneurs. I am not a techie and just a newbie specially here at myLot. I am pleased my discussion was of interest to you. Thanks again.

Oh my YazEid, I have been an absentee MyLottie and haven't been visited this site for a long, long time. Thanks for your response. So, you are a student? I am a student of life and I haven't stopped learning LOL. Hmmm since the time I posted this discussion seven months ago, I have managed to stay away from my PC for some amounts of time. I go out and smell the flowers, so to speak. I try to live a "balanced" life now - computer - work - exercise - computer - sleep. Ooops I manage to eat in between too. ^_^

Well, I do the same as you. Usually I sleep late at night to do some online earning, post on my blog or submit some articles. I also check on my emails. Before going out for work, I check my emails and thats just it. I do not have time to do other things. I go back with the same routine in the evening. My day job actually does not give me the pleasure of using the internet.

Same here. I have always got to be connected. But that's the nature of my life. I've chosen a profession that requires me to have internet access all day everyday. When clients need me, I'm there. But that means I do a lot of "Not related to work" stuff.

Thanks for your response jeffsback. So we share the same habit huh. Oh you have internet access 24/7. Good for you. I cannot access personal emails from the office as it is not allowed. That's why I spend the rest of the night getting connected and doing my personal "cyber pleasures".
