who would you choose?

i was asked
" if you had to choose who would die first..you or the person you are with (whether its your gf/bf, fiance, or husband/wife) who would you choose?"
i dont know how to answer this ...here is what i think
if i choose him first im being selfish to save my own life. and therefore i would still hurt because i lost him either way its a lose lose situation. but if i say me first then im being selfish to avoid pain from losing him..and causing him pain at the same time. there is no way to avoid pain for one of us unless we both die at the same exact time.
what do you think

I heard a quote once - it was attributed to Winne the Pooh but it seems a little deep for Pooh - "If we could be together for forever, I'd want to live forever minus one day so I never have to spend a single day without you." But you're right, that is selfish. If you die first then they have to be without you. If you say you want them to die first, not only are you saving your own life but you are saying you want them to die.
I guess it would come down to the situation. If you were in a horror movie and the killer asked who to kill first, do you spare your partner the pain of watching you slashed to bits or do you hope that in sacrificing your own life, it will buy them time? It's a no win situation, really.

I think I definitely want to die before my husband does. I do not want to go through this hard life by myself. He would be much stronger without me and would be alright, but it would be so hard for me.

Who would die first? Scarey question. I would say-me! That would be the selfish, upfront answer. That would be so hard because enitially I would not the grief so I would want to go first. Hard one. Same exact time is sounding better and better.
