Youth and inexperience are the most significant contributory factors to atheism. These, combined with a natural inclination to question the values of our elders and to throw out 'the baby with the bathwater' tend to make 'atheism' a popular label amongst teenagers. Those who really think about and experience life tend to come to a different conclusion.

It seems to me that the logic of belief (as a set of choices) would be something like this: Q.: Does God exist? A1: It can be proved that there is no God. A2: It can be proved that there is a God A3: There is no satisfactory proof either way. If you answer A1, you are an Atheist; if you answer A3, you are an Agnostic; if you answer A2 you are a 'believer' of some kind and you must then process your belief by answering further questions (such as, 'If there is a God, does He demand worship?') The position of an Atheist would appear to be the simplest 'belief system', therefore, since it avoids any further discussion about the nature of God by assuming that there is no God. It also ignores a vast body of human experience which has tended to believe in a God or gods or, at least, the existence of a supernatural design or intelligence of some kind. It is something like a man who walks onto a railway track and says 'There are no trains'. He may be right but, taking all things into consideration, he is more likely to be knocked down by one if he stays on the track than if he does not.

i have ample proof to show that god never did exist...jesus wasnt a god...but then i have strong evidence to prove the existence of supernatural and unearthly forces as well.

Well, I don't really like calling myself an atheist because I won't completely disregard the tiniest chance that there is a god, because we really haven't quite proved it, at least not yet. I don't think I am the voice to say. Though, I really don't think it would be the same as what the church teaches, because scraggly old men who tell us what to think of it all, aren't really who I would trust. I don't know them. They can use your belief to change your mind about things. They can lie and you might believe it if they say god has said it. A lot of the things in the Bible don't add up to me. I especially don't think my lifestyle of not practicing a religion would ever constitute as a sin, because really, I'm living for the best of everyone and trying to make things the best they can be. If there really is an all loving God, I'm sure he's nothing like what he has been described to me. But as for right now, I am going to say that my life is different than a believer's because I follow my own life philosophy, of things that I have collected over time and begun to learn from. I have to make my world the best I can make it and make it worth living, and it's not simple at all, and nobody is telling me what to do, I'm judging things through the best mind I can create. I'm doing fine. I think there is really more than one way to live life.

I believe that my ability to live my life without a supposed higher power guiding me and judging me is a big factor. Another factor is being open minded to others. And finally, part of atheism is being a bit skeptic when it comes to what people tell you. I am not easily fooled.

yes exactly..like u we tend to approach things in a more logical, rather reasonable way..we dont accept all the crap thrown at us...in a hindu society lyk mine..superstition are very common and rediculous.
