Mostly people like to carry some sort of amulet, I think. For some it is a special coin or a furry object or a small carving or rock. Of course there is the expression "knock on wood" which refers to a gesture like throwing salt over ones shoulder and making the sign of the cross, but as kids when it was time to "knock on wood" we would knock on somebody's head instead. We were so easily entertained.

Sorry, in fact my above response should be for your another discussion. I am not quite sure which thing can bring me good luck. However, I know some people will wear red underwear in the New Year and they say it will give them good luck. I have a doubt to it:) I love China

Well, they are more like old wives tales... and a lot of old people here believe in them... these are some of them... 1. Never sweep the floor at night... that will mean you are sweeping away good luck... 2. Put your hand in your pocket when it is itchy... that means you will have money... 3. During new years eve... be sure to wear polka dots... because the dots symbolizes money and prosperity for the coming year... There are so much more... and most of them came from other countries that colonized mine...

Yes, in fact I like one smartphone very much lately. But I haven't bought it yet because everything seems not clear in the future. It's better to have more money with you rather than spending it. I love China
