I was at the store with my husband this morning getting a few items and we needed some Welches Jelly. My husband grabbed a jar and I grabbed one too, both the Welches brand. His said Jam and mine said Jelly. He asked me what the difference was. Um, I had no idea! What IS the difference between Jelly and Jam? I am really curious now!

Jam is the fruit which has been stewed in sugar, it is basically like preserves. Whereas jelly has a jello consistency, jam is a cooked down version of the fruit. I am not explaining this very well, but jelly wiggles, and jam does not. If you took a fruit, put it in a pan add sugar and let simmer until the fruit becomes syrupy, that is jam. Now I think I got it right
