Where have we gone - from drinking water from the taps (ground water) to drinking in packaged water. Esp this is the scenario in cities in India. I hear about this problem in many other countries as well. What is the source of water that you use? Where are we heading forward to if we continue in this lines?

We directly drink water from the tap. They come after filtration from the tanks. If it is ground water we can heat it and drink. I think it is not great problem we can just heat them and drink otherwise we can use filters for purification. But almost in India purified water will be sent to the homes.

in India we can get the water from tap and use it for cooking. but i don't think the water is pure enough for direct drinking from tap (esp in metro cities). in chennai the water has salt content and hence we use packaged & purified water coming in cans for drinking. tap water is ok for cooking. many also use tap water for drinking but after boiling.

There's nothing wrong in drinking tap water.. UNless the water is very dirty in your country?? If not, tap water are relatively safe to drink.. IN singapore, we can drink straight from the tap, even though it's not recommended.. SO, most of the time, we will boil the water from tap, allow it to cool befroe we drink it ^_^ hehe

very good if you can consume tap water direct. that means that the water is pure and good. thats great news.

I use tap water to cook with when I am heating the water to a boil. I use my refrigerator for drinking water. It filters it for me.

thats good. but i don't know if the water heated and cooled will still be considered as heated water. because the heated water is supposed to lose the oxygen in it. also heated water will increase nervous tension.

If the tap water is proven beyond doubt to not contain anything harmful, there should be nothing wrong in drinking tap water. In most of the cities rain water is collected, treated and then supplied to tap. In some countries, where water is very scarce, they have tow pipe lines in home. One called wash water and mostly not suitable for drinking, another line is for potable water, which are supplied after duly treating and making germ free. Bottled water is used mostly for convenience. In cities on the move bottled drinking water is the only source of quenching thrust.
