I have always been interested in Astronomy right from child hood. The night sky has always fascinated me. Living in a Metro with all its bright city lights has prevented me from having a glimpse of the sky because of light pollution. In 1983 i was fortunate to get a job in Oman where the night sky is visible to the naked eye. I wasted no time in purchasing a telescope and set up a makeshift observatory in a friend`s camp which was away from the main city where i lived.I had a great time peering through it during weekend nights along with friends when we used to gather, have drinks and dinner plus look at the stars and planets. In 1986 Halley`s Comet which was coming after 76 years was to pass close to Earth. On the night of April 14 my friends and myself set off at midnight to view the comet which was making its closest pass to the Earth on that date.We drove about 60kms away from the city and reached the hilly terrain where it was pitch dark.We found a spot where there was space to set up the telescope and our cameras besides the low hills did not obstruct the sky view.We had reached there at 1.00am and to our dismay we found the sky completely covered with clouds. We had to leave from there by 2.00 am so as to get back to our houses and get some sleep before leaving for work early next morning. We waite patiently and in fifteen minutes the sky cleared up completely and the glorious night sky was exposed to our eyes.We immediately searched for the comet and in seconds spotted it low in the sky. Unfortunately there was no tail but stillwe had the pleasure of seeing it.We snapped pics of it and then turned our attention to the amazing view that met our eyes. It was glorious, stupendous, fabulous, marvellous.Never have i seen such a dazzling exhibition of one of Natures most fantastic views.Everystar, every planet, constellation, galaxy and nebula was crystal clear. So many colours, bright and dull orange, red, pink, blue, yellow, brilliant white were the colors of the stars. This scene will always be etched in my mind, unforgettable forever. Reluctantly we left the place as we could not tear our eyes from the sky,This was one of the most memorable moments of my life.

Two most memorable events--the births of my children. They were without a doubt the most joyous moments of my life. When I was on the way to the hospital for my first I saw a deer bound over a fence, followed by a coyote. With my second, I saw a falling star. Those two events defined the births of my children and I gave them Cherokee names-I'm a tiny bit Cherokee-to commemorate those events. Not on their birth certificates, of course, but when I presented them to God a few days after each of their births.

Thanks for your response. You and me have one thing in common and that is both of us are Indians. I am a real Indian from India and you are an American Indian and for that we have to thank Mr.Chris Columbus.

I have several memorable moments in my life but the most recent experience I had was giving birth to my first-born son. It is really a wonderful and memorable experience because of the mixed emotions I had. There was unexplainable pain and happiness during that time. I really will not forget about that moment in my life. I will treasure it as long as I live.

Minehas been the arrival of my daughter. A doctorate holder, I was highly interested in downloading the first ever images of the total solar eclipses and watching elipse through special glasses. However, the arrival of my kidwith her celestial smile bowled me over.
