I know it is possible to use the TV a the monitor for the PC. but it needs certain hardware. But i don't know why we buy a monitor separately then? Why not connect the computer to the TV and use the bigger screen?

lol =D I wonder which is cheaper, a monitor or a tv?? If one has got a spare unused tv in the house, then it's fine that they wanna use a tv if they knows how.. But if one doesn't have any, it makes no sense to pay for much for a tv just for the computer right?? lol =D ON top of that, if one wants a bigger screen, a plasma tv should do even better or even on a projector screen.. lol

I have always thought about that too. I would use the tv monitor if I knew how to make it work with my computer.

S-Video cable support comes in seperate vga cards, if you can plug the s-video cable in tv then you can.

So we can watch TV and enjoy net at the same time! . I am really a TV addict and even when I am MyLotting, my TV is on and I am watching my favorite shows at the same time. I just stop typing for a while if the scene is really interesting but when the commercial is on, I am back MyLotting.

I had the opportunity to use my 40" Sony Bravia as an alternative for my Philips monitor that broke down all of a sudden. I had tested the connection using HDMI to playback movies on the TV. It was almost perfect...however, when I used it for my assignments...looking at characters displayed on the TV screen was rather straining and I found out that LCD TV are made for video rather than text. I believe it has something to do with the difference in pixels packed in a LCD monitor and those in a LCD TV.

the resolution for TV is totally different from computer monitor... that's why you see with the same size, TV will be cheaper... and if you connect your computer to tv and you are using some normal household tv(non hd/full hd tv) probably you will have to change you resolution into 640*480 :(

i heard about that. it is possible to use the tv as your monitor for pc. but i still we have to consider the model of the tv. i think LCD tv are the ones that is compatible to use for computers but we still need the hardware i'm not sure about the name if it's "tv converter/decoder" whatever.

my dad is using my old pc as that so he can watch stuff online with a huge screen, so our family does that. Because my dad want to watch more channels and he hates using the small screen, so i think if you want you can use the TV but of me personally i don't like it because i need to seat far away so i am not close to monitor..and it feels just weird to be far and sometimes hard to read small font stuff

I think all seperate vga cards has that feature of being able to plug S-Video cable and also your tv should support S-Video cable to be plugged. If both have the option of S-Video cable plugging then you can use it.

see the computer is not a primary multimedia device..computer is like what we need we can attached those things and enjoy all the level of possibility..like for accesing internet you need lan card and modem for playing graphics games you need graphics card..........on the same way if you want to watch tv there is speacial hardware for it just connect it and use..in tv tuner card card there is possibility that you can connect your computer to the big screen tv or plasma tv..

You can go ahead and use a TV with your system as your screen of choice, however you need to ensure that your computer's graphics card is capable of handling external displays like TVs or HDTVs. Check the ports on your system if you have S-Video or HDMI and read the documentation on how to set it up for your system. It would be a fairly straightforward process from there. Just ensure that you purchase the correct types of cables as well. Hehee.
