Hi, My name is Tess. I love animals and I have two dog's and two cats. I am looking for a new dog food and cat food that will make them healthier, and help them stop shedding. I currently use IAM's. I have heard of this brand called EVO, I was told it is a really good brand and it fill's up your pets faster becuase the food is solid with less air pockets. They said it doesn't have any bad chemicals and it is healthy. Does anyone else have any other brands that would be a good buy to try? Evo is very expensive! Please let me know.

I only have experience with cats. My four cats eat only canned Wellness or Natural Balance brand food. It is made from human grade ingredients and has no grain. Cats are obligate carnivores which means they must eat meat and have no use for grain which can cause allergies and fill them up with unneeded bulk. I give my cats about 3 oz in the morning and again in the evening. They are healthy, weigh the right amount, have beautiful soft coats and are very happy. Check out the website for the foods you are considering and check the ingredients. I'm sure you will find a food that is perfect for your animals. Good luck.

Wow, I had no idea cats had no use for grain. This really helps I will definately check it out. But I thought that only feeding your cat's wet food could be bad!? So I am guessing this isn't true?

It used to be thought that dry food was good for a cat's teeth, but the pieces turn into a paste when mixed with saliva and coat the teeth. But, mostly, the food is swallowed whole. Cats don't really have the kind of teeth that chew. I have heard of some cats who can't tolerate wet food, but not many.

You should definetly look into getting higher quality foods than IAM's. The foods do cost a bit more, but in the end your pets are getting more healthy/ nutrious food & that can mean less trips to the vet. Not sure about cat food, but my puppy gets Solid Gold Hundchen Flock( its the Lamb & rice one) Solid Gold is recommended by many, you can look up reviews. & Innova Evo is a great food. What kind of dog do you have? Evo is a high protein kibble- so mostly it is for highly active dogs. & for more low-key dogs- get Sold Gold(lower protein) Also sometimes it might depend on the dog- if his stool is firmer/ better with that Kibble- that is the right one. But for Kibbles- Innova & Solid Gold are my top two recommendations. If you need more help pm me.

Thanks, that does help alot. I have two dog's I have a springer Spaniel, and a autralian sheppard. They are both awewsome dog's. Very active. But as my Springer get's older she is more and more innactive. She has arthritis in her right paw/leg. When she was alot younger, we went on vacation, she stayed at a ranch/kennel right near my house. They dropped a door on her thus breaking her leg very badly. She limps every now and then especially in the cold. Would you suggest I do anything for this? I dont really like medications, thus the idea of heavly medicating my dog is not my favorite. However if I must do it, I would.
