One of the delightful aspects of cats is their independence. The cats you have discovered are probably feral cats, very wary of humans, as has been said. If you feed them, you will have to keep it up as they will rely on you and your concern for them. After a while, they may become more friendly. I would doubt that they would be eager to be friends with a child. It depends on how feral they are... |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called Any Ideas On How To Keep Outdoor Cats Safe? in cats. 3 days ago
Unfortunately, the only truly safe place is inside. I realize you can't have 17 cats inside, so the next best thing would be a cat enclosure for them. You can google cat enclosures to get some ideas about how to build one. It has to have sides that can't be climbed over. The tops can bend in, for example. I'm so sorry about your loss. I wish you loads of luck. You are a truly good person to car... |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called Will your teen get the new HPV vaccine?? in parenting. 3 days ago
My granddaughters are not getting it. I don't think it has been tested enough. It does not provide protection against all forms of cervical cancer and can provide a false sense of security. I would like to see it tested for at least another 5 years before any of my family get it. Just because a drug company is pushing it is no reason to jump on the bandwagon. |

I look forward to your apologizing for another mistake in the near future. You really ought to be careful where you get your so-called facts. Thanks for posting more misinformation. |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called Cats on the attack! in cats. 3 days ago
It will pass. You are right about the outside cat starting it. It's called displaced aggression. They can't get the intruder, so will go after each other. My daughter has a brother and sister who do this. Just ignore them, they'll get over it.
I had a wonderful orange boy who would go totally berserk when an outside cat challenged his territory. He would even attack me, who was the one he lo... |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called It's a shame..... in watching television. 3 days ago
I watch Americas Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance and reruns of House, Bones, Law & Order. I also watch In Plain Sight and Flash Point. I can always find something to watch if I want to watch TV. I don't have Bravo and Starz and all the movie channels, just basic satellite here. |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called Are cats very dangerous?? in cats. 17 hours ago
Cats are not dangerous at all. When you play with a cat, you have to watch it for signs of discontent. It can be over stimulated. If you see the tip if its tail moving, stop playing with it; it has had enough. The same is true when you are petting it. I have 4 cats; they are my best friends. They come when called and purr in my lap. No dog can do that. |
 | mcat19 responded to a discussion called Enjoyment in life. The simple things for me. How about you? in enjoy life. 2 hours ago
I adore sunsets. And clouds. I still make pictures out of clouds. Animals, dragons, whales, boats, trains. Whatever they looklike. I would lie on my back on the grass and look at them if I weren't afraid I'd never be able to get up again.
I really enjoy watching my cats play or sleep or anything they do. Except using the litter box. I let them have privacy for that.
I enjoy watching my ne... |

Please don't suggest getting a cat declawed. The procedure removes the entire first joint of the cat's toe. It would be the same as cutting off your fingers at the first knuckle. It is very painful and can make a cat bite since it can't use it's claws.
Cats, as you say, are not at all dangerous. But they are animals and need to be respected as such. |
 | mcat19 received a best response in the discussion litter boxes by paisleylass. 3 days ago Your cat can't talk. He has no other way to tell you he isn't feeling well. Please take him to the vet. If the vet says he's OK, put him in a small room, like a bathroom with his litterbox so he can only go in the box. When he does go in the box, tell he how good he is, give him a treat. After he goes in the box for a few days, let him out but supervise him while he is out. If he looks like he ... |
